Default mondeo tdci knocking noise

just bought 55 plate mondeo 130 tdci. when engine is cold distinct knocking noise is heard. Fuel filter recently changed and diesel treatment, which makes me wonder if it is related to problem? Help?

If it 's 1500 rpm it could be the injectors they are noisier when the engine was cold beetween 1500 and 2000 rpm

Yeah, I'd go with Injector noise, (well diesel knock). They run more advance on the pump when cold to smooth out the idle and clean up exhaust emissions.

Also sometimes the injectors need resetting on a decent scanner, had to do one I bought to sell a couple of years back

HTH

Mondeo's are notorious for their injectors going between 60k and 70k , mine luckily enough lasted till 148k due to motoway mileage .
I'd get along to a proper delphi agent , have the injectors taken out and put on a flow test and you'll know one way or another .
My car needed 4 new injectors and total cost was £692 after labour and recoding and removal and refitting and the car is like new now .
Good luck , check out www.fordmondeo.org as well

if the engine is 130 bhp tdci you have just a hugh preassure pompe because it's a common rail, I don't think that's a advance problem

if the engine turn well at the idle on his four cylinder I don't think that you have a problem with the injectors

I have the same car and when I'm at low revolution the engine knock a little but it's normal I have the same noise with the Mondeo of my customers

But take some advise to a local diesel specialist

Let we know the diagnostic

Cheers
