hi and as the name says onlyalady who desperately needs some advice, I have a ford escort n reg manual and petrol car, it has sudeenly stopped running, i broke down and the brekdown company came out and suggested we bump start it and it went ok. I got home and turned engine off and it hasn't started since, the breakdown guy recommended it was the starter motor as it only clicked when trying to turn key in igniton, so I brought a new starter motor, fitted it, tested the battery, checked oil, i had petrol, but alas no joy
I turn the key in the ignition and it just clicks, all my lights work, radio, interior lights, dashboard lights, but engine completey dead can hear the solinoid trying to kick in
any help would be appreciated i cannot afford to buy another car and my car has just sailed through an mot. Please help

Check all the main battery leads are nice and clean, good contact, also try the wire trick, use a bit of wire direct from the battery feed at the solenoid, to the solenoid feed from the ignition switch, so as to bypass the ignition switch, see if that does anything, some suffer from a high resistance on the solenoid terminal(in the loom), often resoldering these solves the problem, but remember to use some adhesive lined heatshrink to seal the join from moisture and breaking.
