Any car the age of yours has to have it diesel or not, must at that age be OBD2 compliant.

OBD2 is a exhaust emission rule used in the United States of America and Canada. It has no meaning in Europe and does not apply.
In Europe we have EOBD, introduced in 2001 for petrol cars and 2004 for diesels, with a lot of exceptions. The last cars that became compliant were large commercial vans with a diesel engine on 1st January 2007.\
So, this car will have the 16-pin diagnostic connector (because that's cheaper for Ford to build), but it's not compliant with EOBD.

I stupidly plugged a obd scanner into my mondeo and let's say it was not very well afterwards. Just simply plugging it in messed alot of things up and caused the injectors to be reprogramed according to a friend who had to fix it. The car simply would not run I was a 2002 tdci mondeo aswell.
