Default 2004 mondeo belt tensioner

hi all
just changed the tensioner the other pulley just above it and a new belt(and got the cuts to prove it) but im still getting a slight rumble and some small squeaking from the belt.can anybody advise what the prob could be or where to look next even.also i havent been able to hear the AC kick in since doin this job but the temp hasnt lifted much above 2oC outside,am i right in thinking the AC wont kick in,in certain temps.

regards

nigel

What engine is this? And yes I believe the A/C won't come in below 4° on Mondeo.

Check the belt hasn't jumped over one rib and is aligned all the way round its run. We were also changing the front crank pulley when doing these.

ive checked checked and double checked all off that.i am aware of the crank pulley being a common fault on these and i do get the clattering at light revs ,but would that cause the prob that im getting with squeking.iv checked the all the associated pulleys and all seem fine with no play evident.what is the prob with the crank pulley,as far as i can see its just a single peice of metal with no bearings, not much to go wrong really.
just a bit fecked of with this squeking now,i spent the last 6months wd40'ing the belt and tensioner to shut it up untill eventually that didnt work anymore then spent a small fortune (and a lot of time)on belt and tensioner only for it to still be making noises at me

You mentioned you were still getting a rumble, this could be due to the crank pulley- they have a vibration damper in-built and after prolonged flapping of the drive belt will need to be changed, it was all part of the TSB.
Have a look here and see if it helps for the squeak-

thats an interesting article and the misalignment certainly makes sense.i suppose it is more like a chirp and is only at and with a gentle foot on the pedal it disappears instantly, but ive checked and the belt is sitting in the groves where it should be so are we saying its possible a pulley has moved some how, somewhere???
