Default Mk3 Fiesta Clutch Problem

Hi guys,

My clutch is having problems on my mk3 fiesta, its the pedal not the clutch itself. U can push pedal and select a gear but then next time u push the pedal nout happens u may have to push a few times or just once it clicks and then has the clutch activating again just wanting ideas I think it may be the ratchet? Are these self adjusting or do you have to do it manually? Thanks

Sounds like a new ratchet and pawl is needed, you can do a temp repair by fitting a 1/2" spacer in between the cable and the gearbox, may not last long though.

would you believe it wasnt the ratchet or pawl it was the clutch fork itself? It had the fork with rubber in and musta been giving to much play n ratchet was re adjusting each time ave changed it to the solid fork and seems to be working ok just for any future reference to guys with this problem before they take the ratchet etc out cos I know it aint nice under there from experience

You've probably inadvertently done what I suggested ie the spacer trick only in reverse, it moves the ratchet further round to a less worn area, will work for a while.
