Im unsure as someone told me that the fiction plate has to be changed because of the amount of splines on it, it differs from the type 9 box, will have to check this

Why not use a Manta 1800 Getrag box and calibra turbo clutch? Manta 1800 box has a 14 spline input shaft which matches the 220mm calibra clutch.

Ive been looking for a manta box but cant seem to get hold of one, there like as rare as hens teeth. £160.00 for the for bell housing conversion, from RWD motorsport, but had a look at the housing, it uses the ford input shaft bearing, clutch forlk, clutch plate, but what i cant see is the opening for the forlk to mate up with the cable, theres nothing there. N opening??

Call Helix or Mardi Gras Motorsport They will supply you a Vauxhall fitment clutch with a Ford centre. Personally I'd put it on a T5 box now as the type 9 will be struggling with stock power from a let.

Im all confused now, should i go for the T5, cozi box and spend £300 + new bell housing plus clutch plate and spigot bearing, or should i go for the type 9 box which ive already got, or as someone sugested the opel manta Getrag box, can anyone advise which route to go down please.

Lets look at your options:
Type 9 - Will shit itself fairly quick, meaning you can either replace it now, or when it happens. Your choices are then: The Manta box. Not sure how strong this is, and as you already mentioned not easy to get hold of. Or the T5. Easy to get hold of, plenty strong enough. Think thats your mind made up Last edited by timrud; 21-01-2010 at 12:51 AM. |
