Default clio 1.5dci annoying starting problem HELP!!!! this is getting to be a pain in the !

my sister has had an ongoing problem with her 51 plate clio 1.5 diesel.. quite often she gets in it and its wont go.. the immobiliser light stays on and the glowplug light doesn't come on when you put the ignition on.. yet if you go to it a couple of hours later it starts fine.. she has put a brand new battery on it.. had a new key and decoder ring by renault and it still keeps doing this.. yet when it does start its first turn of the key. its getting on her tits now cus renault don't seem to want to know anymore, so do you know anyone that has had this problem or can shed some light on it..

just so you know, it can't be glow plugs cus when it does start its first turn of the key, had battery and new key plus decoder ring.

to give you an idea how much this is winding her up, she has called the breakdown people out 20 odd times in the last year to get towed home.

one idea that has been put too me.. her sunroof leaks like a siv, and apparently there is a immobiliser sensor next to the interior light that could be getting damp, have you heard of this???

very common for crankshaft position sensors and also the ecu plug is shrouded with a metal security jacket, this jacket rubs through the loom and causes all sorts of bother, we just remove them and throw it in the bin whenever one comes in.

crank sensor usually keeps the immobilizer light on and stops it starting

oh and check the earth wire to the ecu and check the fuse box in front of the battery for corrosion, the relays are under the fuses

i would have thought the dealers would have tested for power to the glow plugs, to be honest even if they were off it would still try to start, does it start with a tow ?

i thought the same about nothing to do with the heater plugs, found out if theyre not working the car wont start i had the exact same problem, theres 2 relays for the plugs, the wee one was dirty and not making a connection so i cleaned it up put it back in and av not had a problem since.
