Default 99 Escort TD problems.

Hi there folks, a couple of problems doing my napper in. When pressing the accelerator pedal after i've been sat in traffick at idle for a few minutes the engine go's to max revs then cuts out. It happens all the time, hot, cold, early or late in a journey.

Quite a common one this but i'm still struggling. Heater blowing luke warm air causing problems de-misting the windscreen. I'm led to believe it could be the Heater control valve which is located on the bulkhead...where exactly and what am i looking for. I've flushed, bled, changed the stat etc.

Thanks.

tabetha will become famous soon enough

The first problem points to air getting in the fuel line, look for leaks, esp around the fuel filter.
The water valve is indeed the likely culprit, just follow the heater pipes through the bulkhead, you will soon see it, I think they have 4 pipes going to/from it, for now I would just jam the thing open if you can, they also suffer from blown pcb's, not sure if the heater on yours is fitted with these though.
