Zetecse engine main and big end tourque figures. Ford dont want to know!!
HI ALL BOUGHT A SECOND HAND ENGINE LAST WEEK JUST CHECKED THE BIG END SELLS TO SEE WHAT THEY WHERE LIKE. AUTODATA DOES NOT LIST ANY TOURQUE FIGURES FOR MAINS AND BIG ENG BEARINGS APPARENTLY IT IS A THROW AWAY ENGINE ? JUST WONDERERING IF ANY OF YOU GUYS KNEW WHAT THE FIGURES ARE. IT IS A 99 FOCUS 1.6 ZETEC SE ENGINE . cHEERS ALL ¬!!!!

Big end bearings:
8NM then 90 Degrees
Main Bearings:
You're meant to replace the block and crank if the bearing bolts have been loosened.
But for your information the 1.6 16v in the Escort of the same year is:
Stage 1 : 70NM
Stage 2 : 90NM
At your own risk though

Had same problem when my other halfs olf focus cracked a piston, Ford said it woud need a short block replacement so no info was avaliable, spoke to an engineering company and they suplied a poston and big ends and advised me on the torque settings. Sorry to say cant remember what they were but could try to find out for you if you need them.

Frustrating
Old thread but I need add so anyone looking for this info knows.
Ford have made a conciseness decision to only sell the short block route in the event it needs replacing for any components from piston rings to bearings.
The 1.6ti has super tight tolerances so damn tight that unless you assemble it in a clean room/environment all the work changing them wont last long. Seems that ford only want to preassemble the entire assembly to cover their asses from what I can gather.
The pistons and rings are specifically tolerances to the A5 engine oil and they are super tight so conventional assembly is very challenging to say the least. Pistons go in so tight you could end up scoring or damaging them same goes for the bearings. It uses a alloy frame rather than the conventional bearing caps, any warping of this cradle frame will lead to premature engine failure. I believe they assemble this into the block with a CNC machined jig under temperature to get it perfectly torqued and seated.
When tech goes overboard beyond the scope of a mechanic.
All that said the big end bearings are not part and parcel of the rest of it and could be changed if your journal's are still good so conrod cap spec's should not be an issue to release from ford, after all it is just piston and crank to block that requires the accuracy of assembly.
