Mk4 Escort XR3I EFI Smelling Rich!!!
Morning all.
I have an H Reg 1990 EFI CVH XR3i -the layer type with the idle control on the inlet manifold and not on the suspension turret.
It's running alright but for the last four months or so smells like it is running rich, strongish exhaust smell on tickover and noticable when you switch off and first get out of the car.
I had the mixture and emissions checked about three months ago and it was fine, spark plug check confirms this. I have fitted a stainless steel exhaust with a new four branch manifold so the exhaust is not leaking and it does not blow any smoke out at all, engine is in good nick having been rebuilt approx 3yrs ago.
It does have a Kent cam fitted but with std pulley, as it is not dialed in with adjustable vernier pulley could this be an issue? Has been in about 3yrs and not been a problem before.
Has anyone else had a similiar problem with an EFI XR3i?
Are there any particular sensors that could be at fault?
Any ideas anyone?
Thanks
