1.8td cams
i am changing the cam belts on my early sierra 1.8td engine this engine is completely new to me and i have been unable to obtain a manual i understand certain pulleys need updating as well does anybody know anyone in north yorks who could advise me or could even do the job for a suitable fee of course the engine is out of the car. thanks john

It is a seriously easy job to do, basically BOTH belts pump and cam need changing, as do all the idler wheels and tensioners, so in short buy a complete 2 belt and tensioner kit.
There is a Haynes manual that covers the 1.6 and 1.8 version of this engine, it is book number 1172, Ford 1.6 & 1.8 Diesel Engine.
The belt change will need a timing kit, which are just certain size pins to insert through the pulleys to hold in position whilst the old belt is removed and new one put on, but even this can be got around with a few snug fitting drill bits.
It may pay you to do the tappets at the same time as the belt is off ?
