There's no reason you can't do one wheel off ground at a time.
Just make sure you get fresh fluid through to each caliper, if wanting better feel use braided lines, and you can also take off the anti rattle shims, I always do, but compound/make dependant could lead to noises, I use yellowstuff with anti rattle backing removed from rear of pads and never heard a sound in 3 years.
Some pads have a very dead feel to them, even if they work well, I found this with the DS range and so now use only ebc as all have feel which is how I like it.
As regards the order, I just do whichever one is easiest and never follow and order, and never have a problem, so long as enough run out to get new fluid at each wheel will be fine.

You heard wrong, in fact with some cars you MUST have the wheels fully loaded, ie car on the ground because of the type of load sensors they have, might stop decent flow of fluid through them.

as long as you can get to the bleed nipple you dont need to jack it up and take the wheel off. just make sure you keep topping the res up and get nice clean fluid through, as above really
