Too many posts.. I need a life!!

hydraulic release not cable, the flywheels are dual mass so hopefully theres not too much play in it. If flywheel fooked get a silvertop flywheel and clutch kit,
The cables for the gear change can stretch or bind so check they are free to move, Otherwise a pretty normal job. |

Did mine a few weeks ago, as mentioned the fly wheel and slave cylinder will need replacing also. There are approximately 13 bolts holding the gearbox to the engine.
Drain fluid Shafts out Remove rear gearbox mount support engine remove air filter box remove battery and battery tray remove coilpack support gearbox Remove gearbox mount unclip gear selector cables Remove clip and pull slave cylinder hydraulic line from box unclip speed sensor and reverse light switch loosen subframe bolts, 4 at back 2 up behind the suspension strut, lower and inch wedge engine forward about 300mm with a bit of wood remove the 13 gearbox bolts, all different lengths so draw a diagram for where they came from Wiggle gearbox off. Refit is reverse of removal. Things to note, you need a breaker bar for some nuts, if your removing the shafts completely you will need a 32mm socket. Definately change the fly wheel it WILL die if not already. Dont forget NEW flywheel bolts DONT use old ones. Patience, i did mine myself with no help, took all weekend. I would never have done it without 2 hydraulic trolley jacks AND a gearbox support bar. Dont forget your tourqe wrench You will have to bleed the brake system, with the clutch pedal after so dont forget brake fluid. Gearbox oil get from Ford 75w90 is the stuff you need. Bleeding the clutch can be a pain, you might need to reverse bleed the clutch and you may need to bleed the brake system also Good luck its a twat of a job Last edited by Sp3no; 30-10-2009 at 01:16 AM. |
