Thumbs up 1.6 zetec flat spot

Ihave a 98 1.6 zetec escort and when i put the foot down it pulls hard to about 3500rpm then the power serges in and out from then on, i've put a new fuel filter air cleaner and checker intake side of things for leaks but still no joy
Any help would be great

sorry mate a little new to fords wot is the sensor your talking about exsacty and it has know cat iv taken that out

Hi,

The lambda sensor measures the about of oxygen in your exhaust gases and basically helps your engine management determine the fueling for your engine. It is located in the exhaust system (Screws in tightly!) and looks like this:

hi im having the same problem with my 1.6 escort ive had the flat spot for a while.over the last month ive replaced the cat to back box cause it had had it ,plugs,air filter oil filter and that flat spot is still there around 3500-4000rpm it all be good to no how u got on with your escort. cheers chris

Default problem solved!!

After checking everything from the oxygen sensor to the air cleaner it turned out to be a combination of the throttle body and the throttle control valve just being dirty and needing a bloody good clean. Be warned that taking the throttle control valve is a bloody pig to remove and even worse to put back on and a small pair of hands are handy for this.

Now she pulls like a 12 year old school boy again!!!
