What pump is it, if a LUCAS/CAV it is a doddle, and will make a HUGE difference, mine went like stink and did a indicated 112mph after a fiddle, was a n/a 1.8 diesel escort(mk4), also still did 55mpg, took all of 5 minutes to do.
Look on the front of the pump and see if there is a big hex shaped cover about the size of a 50p piece ?

It does indeed, should be around a 10/11mm nut surrounding a allen screw ?

That certainly looks like the kiddie, and your description sounds ok, they have obviously just changed the locking nut bit.

You will see if you adjust the screw. One way it will limit how much the throttle will open. You want it so it opens more. I done it on my Fiesta diesel, it made a big difference. But the shit that used to come out of it

check out this -

i know its for a pug but its the same thing. done this on my mates mk2 mondy. works well.

if yours is just an n/a version, just do the max fueling screw. a STRONG 4mm allen key is needed. dont use a shit one coz if it snaps your fooked!

hi i have a mk 6 escort van, and i want to open up the diesel pump aswell. i ripped off the safety plate which stops you tamperin where the injector pipes come out and found a allen key thread with a locking nut and wound it in and out but either way it never made much difference. what is the big hexagon bolt on the pump for? would that have anythin to do with tunin the pump up? if anyone has any idea of tweakin up the diesel pump please let me know

The stud your playing with, does it need a 13mm spanner to release the locking screw? Uf so this us the "on boost" which wont make a hell of a difference without the turbo pressure turning up to match.

Youll need the max fuel screw turning up too to see any descent gains.

it is inside the pump, theres a black cap on the front of the pump. remove this, some diesel will spill out.

using a mirror, have a look inside. jack the car up and put it gear, turn a wheel until you can see the allen stud inside.

turn this clockwise about 30 - 40 degrees

fitted a turbo to my n/a engine. it came of a fiesta di engine. but the waiste gate doesent open as the engine revs up like it should. it justs stays shut and all the exhaust gases are forced through the turbo and the turbo ends up whistlin its head off. does anyone know whats the cause of this?

your actuator could be shot! check there is pressure coming from the actuator pipe.

soak all the actuaor rod etc with wd40 and let it soak, if youve bought a tdi setup off an that been exposed to the weather it might be rusted up.

out of curiosity, did you get the td oil pump aswell?

ok ill give it a go. no i didnt get the oil pump, i found an oil feed rite next to the oil filter so i got the oil feed for the turbo from there. you'll see that it is blocked up with a 1/4 thread with an allen key head in the end of it.

with the vans its all about "girth"

the front usually isnt a problem

if your wheels are 7" wide (7j) you should be fine, if not get the rear arches rolled to give you extra room.

i know mk1 rs focus wheels and cosworth wheelds rub as there 8" (8j) wide
