mk2 mondeo lost key
hell,my friend has lost the only key to his mondeo.he went to ford who want 650 pound to sort it all how.can he not get a full set on ebay to replace the locks himself?i would be grateful for anyone who can help on the matter.

The problem is the chip, in the key, locks etc are no problem, even easier if a door etc is still unlocked.
They often used to print the key number on the door locks itself, so worth a look, or FORD UK would be worth a call as that may well be recorded on their system somewhere.

Unfortunately ford don't hold the key numbers, but all is not lost, he confirmed that often the key number is on the lock on front doors, so that would be first to look at>
If no number, which will be a six figure number with each being between 1 and 4, then the door locks can be taken apart and from the tumblers it can be worked out what the key number is.
This would get you keys, but of course still immobilised, so would need going on fords computer to delete all the old red keys, and install the new one.
I had a red supplied and coded, all the old ones deleted, and two new black keys all done and dusted for £75, but was a few years ago.
I would shop around as the price varied from £75 to over £200 for mine to be done.
