Default MFI XR3i to EFI RST conversion

I've got a 89' XR3i Escort Cab running the 1.6 MFI engine, but been offered an EFI RS turbo lump with all the radiator, intercooler, gearbox, ECU, fusebox and exhaust etc but no loom.

I know the loom will need changing, but which loom is best and what needs rewiring? does anything else need changing also?

has anyone else does this conversion at all?

Thanks in advance

you only need to change the engine bit of the loom, so not the fuse box.

that's rubbish, firstly your tank will already have a swirl pot and an injection pump.
so all you need to do is alter the pipes in the bay, piss easy.
regulator on efi is on the fuel rail, so take the fuel feed to the left side and return from regulator.

remember it was efi before, so it'll all go back.
i have a mk4 cab with an erst engine in it and all the efi bits are still there that are useable.

Ah right i was just advised that a straight mfi to mfi would be easier than a mfi to efi conversion

you're spot on, course it would be easier, going efi you need to take out the mfi management loom and fit in the efi one, shouldn't take more than a couple of hours though.

I fitted the efi loom out of a 90 spec cabby to my gfs mfi cabby and that worked fine, and also if its every turbod later on would just need to change the map sensor connector and a couple other bits

As said fuel wise i kep the old mfi external fuel pump rather than fitting the efi one which as an internal pump and joined the fuel pipes etc with new fuel hoses
