Default Cossie rep, few problems.

ok guys, based on a 1.4 escort the problems are..

fuel gauge just seems to be at rock bottom even though i know there is fuel in the car, anybody know what this could poss be?

headlights were working fine but both went off at the same time, sidelights, full beam and all indicators work and i tried changing fuses but the headlights are still out - anybody have any ideas what this might be? (i know the headlights are brighter than standard 1.4 escort however i assume the wiring and fuses are the same)

the car has an RS turbo engine fitted, so not sure if this makes any difference on the above.. although i wouldnt think so?

any help muchos appreciated.

check for power at headlight bulbs first, if both have no power it could well be the switch

fuel gauge is probably a fubared tank sender unit

if they have no power to them could it be the relay on the switch?

also, how much is a tank sender unit?

i just want these few little problems sorting on it now.

also the engine temp gauge shoots straight up to red becase the fan is running to cool the engine from the get go, but the engine does run very nice and smooth boosts fine and doesnt spit any water etc.

stud, its not that - i just not quite sure where to start.. iv checked all the fuses and replaced them and its not done anything.

i dont think its the fuse box as everything else is working besides headlights and the fuel gauge. Can relays blow?

you need to get a test light or power probe and start finding where you have and haven't got power too, if you can get to the wiring for the tank sender unit, I would imagine it has 2 wires, unplug the connecter then bridge the 2 wires, fuel gauge should go to full, if it does this confirms the tank sender is fubared

All sorted now, headlights are fixed and working, fuel gauge is fixed and working to!

Going to now sort an exact reading for the engine temp.
