black top zetec bottom end issue's...
need abit of help advise...
im fitting a 2ltr black top zetec turbo into my mk5 escort, but i keep coming up against problem's...
problem 1)
pic's...
silvertop bottom end....
black top bottom end...
basically, the silvertop bottom end (top pic) has that plate thing bolted on under the crank, and the blacktop doesn't, the blacktop has a 2 part sump.
i'v tried getting around it by taking the bolt's from the silvertop and putting them into the black top, but ...
as you can see the silvertop bolt is alot longer than the blacktop one and wouldn't bolt down properly, looking at the bottom end's abit closer i found the crank cap thing's (the bit's that hold the crank to the block...) are bigger on the silvertop than the black top, and the crank seem's to sit lower on the silvertop than the black top, so i cant use them i dont think??
so does anyone have any suggestion's as to how i can use the plate thing, im assuming i do need to use it?
i cant cut the bolt's down to make them fit as the thread doesn't go all the way up the bolt, only goes about half way. im stumped tbh, i don't have a clue
problem 2)
pic's....
silvertop...
blacktop...
basically, the silvertop (top pic) has an oil pump that the oil filter bolt's to, where as the blacktop doesn't, the oil filter just bolt's to the block itself, can i cap that and use a normal escort oil pump, or would that not work due to whatever reason  ??
i tried to get better pic's, but battery died
problem 3)
the silvertop escort engine mount doesn't fit onto the blacktop, the 2 hole's (one above the other) line up, but the 3rd one is about 20-30mm off, how do i get over this? im thinking just chop off the short bit and weld a longer bit on? or would that not be a good idea?
any other way's round this?
problem 4)
iv just ordered some double valve spring's from burton power, but when i removed the head today i looked at the valve spring's.... how on god's earth do i get them out? is it quite easy (for a novis like me) or is that sort of job best left for someone that know's how?
any help atall on the above would be maaahooosivly appriciated!!

are you trying to fit a silvertop sump to a blacktop then?
the 2 part sump incorperates a windage tray and baffles in the upper part so the lower is just a sump pan. are you certain you need to swap these over? as i am going to be using the blacktop sump on my ZT but have a ford WRC inconel manifold so dont have to worry about routing the exhaust under the sump in the fiesta. im also using ARP stud and nuts for the bottom end, this could be an option for you if you defo needed to use the silver top sump but make sure you put thread lock on the 2nd nut that you use to hold the sump and dont over tighten to unsettle the torque settings of the studs.
im sure that there would prob be enough room tho to get the exhaust under the pan.
as fo the oil filter im using a remote filter so have a take off plate on the block where the filter would be to give me more room for the engine and plumbing etc and also ease of changing the filter as the exhasut could poss end up being in the way.
As for mounting the black top i am using the focus mount and having a custom mount welded into the fiesta chassis to accept this.
as an idea here is a coupld of pics of the engine, enjoy

im not sure about the sump to be honest, i was just told i'd need to use the escort silvertop one... im using a manifold that make's the down pipe go under the sump, so im not sure if i'd have enough room for the exhaust to pass through without it hanging to low? ill have to measure both sump's and see what the difference's are. would be so much easier to just use the blacktop one!!
i would of got the same manifold as your's, but i dont think there's enough room between the bulkhead and engine to sqeeze the exhaust through without it getting in the way of something else?
i'v just ordered a remote oil filter jobby now, hopfully that'll get over that problem, so cheers for that
what are you doing about the water pump? because it spin's the wrong way or something??
again... been told to just use a rs1800 silver top one, do you know if this will work?

1) what have you done about the water pump?
2) what have you done about mounting the alternater (look's like you have some custom plate made looking at the pic...?)
3) are you using the mtx (rs2000) gearbox? if so, what clutch and flywheel are you using?
4) how have you plumbed in the turbo cooling?
5) how much room's left under the car with the blacktop sump?
sorry for all the q's, im an absolute novis with all this, but i want to do as much as pos by myself...

you can use the silver top pump but you have to machine the block out to a larger bore for the waterpump so the impella will fit inside the block also you have to drill and tap the block for it.
if you look on mine you will notice that the bolting face for the pulley has been cut off as im using a david craig electric pump and controller.
