What gearbox fluid ?????????????

Ford say ATF, but some other people use GEAR OIL, I use 75W90 gear oil, gives a bit of a stiff change when cold but fine otherwise, seems a bit quieter too on this.

Cheers for the reply, I have had a little search for info it looks like it is a 50/50 thing some people recommend gear oil saying it is better for the gears especially for cars that get used hard, but then some say that gear oil is to thick for the lubrication of the bearings same with anything really always a divide in answers when you goggle anything you never a definitive answer.
think I will stick with the atf, Now with the next dilemma Dextron 2 or Dextron 3

DEX 2 or 3 is fine.
The early cossie T5 boxes had a material on the ends of the selector forks called pads that were made of paper, well compressed card, ATF disintergrated these very quickly.
ATF as it is so slippery, makes for a smoother change, but synchros need FRICTION to do thier job, this they get with gear oil, gear oil is also better for shear load, that atf was never desinged for.
