Default very confused

hi all . as above i am very confused. here goes when i bought my rs turbo it was standard which it still is although i have parts ready to fit. i heard that standard rst is set about 7 psi producing 130 bhp and same torque. i had my car set up and it came back with 130 bhp 186 nm torque but its set at 12 psi how can this be if car is not chipped. there is a bleed valve fitted, standard actuator is crap. does this mean that engine may be tired as if it was set at 7 psi it would be 100 bhp even though my tuner said i had a good engine.... can anyone shed some light please. thanks

Then it's set for that boost on the bleed valve, even if it did have aftermarket chip ECU has no control over boost with those things, much better to use standard amal valve. If you plumbed this back in then it would run standard boost. That power at standard boost sounds about right if you consider the age of the engine and wear.

Standard actuator is not crap and at your state of tune you don't need an uprated one.

However if you are running standard car you should not be running that boost you will melt it, what was done when the car was setup?

thank you for your reply mate, yes it was set up at that level . i didnt know that the tuner was shite until i read the rs owner club forums turns out a few turbo`d cars have cooked on his rollers but the car is off the road for now until its resprayed. can you recommend a decent tuner. heard a lot of good stuff about jano @ oddkidd

thanks

Naughty, it will be ok just don't drive it hard until you have it setup, in your first post you said you have some bits for the car so I am guessing you want to gain power what mods do you have?

First thing you will need is a chip the new chip along with new maps will allow 15PSI of boost, you will also need an uprated actuator this should see around 180BHP.

Never used Oddkids before but on reputation alone they seem a good bunch.

Martin.

You could fit mods yourself but yes make sure you take it for a setup after, unfortunatly your far away from me so I can not reccomend anyone from your area? Were you not thinking of going to Oddkids?
