Dellorto DHLA 40 Advice
Hi, hope someone out there can help with this little problem. Ive got a 1600Pinto in my kit car, its got a single DHLA 40(H) with a Lynx manifold bolted to it. The dizzy i think is vacuum advance but ive just blocked the vacuum pipe off and sealed the vacuum take offs on the manifold. It starts and runs ok but when i accelerate hardish it hesitates/stutters quite bad, if i accelerate gradually its ok but stutters again when the revs start to build up, it'll run ok to about 60mph then starts to lose the plot
Jetting is 150 mains, 58 idles, 40 accelerator pumps, air correctors 210, chokes 32mm, emulsion tubes 7772.11
Also are there any views on the pro's or cons of soldering and re drilling carburetor jets.
Any advice would be much appreciated.

Always try to run with vac advance if you can, depends what cam you are running, too wild and the pulses will be all over the place, as you are 2 cyls fed by one side of 40, vac signal should be ok.
If it has not been jetted to suit, then this is what needs doing, a rolling road is far better/quicker than trial and error, if you do run without vac I would put a spot weld onto plate to hold still, as vibration may move it.
