19cvh fake??????
hi, i have been offered a 19 cvh..forged pistons,steel conrods,stage 4 head,vernea pulley and lumpy cam.t34 turbo...£800..bargain!!!!
i get my cash out of the safe, jump in my truck and head off up the m6 to collect my engine..157 miles later i arrive meet the bloke and walk to his garden shed...he had took the head off (thank feck) so i could have a look..
this is what i have come home with a greatly reduced price!!!
19 cvh bottom end (very rare as it says 16 on the block???on the top of the pistons it says A 0.50...and on the inside of the piston it says K.P 88 2569..the rods look stock to me...
a head with 42mm exhaust valves and 37mm inlet..
a blue vernea pully
and a turbo in mint condition i cant identify...
ok chaps after seeing all this i got a little grumpy to say the least.i think after a little heated debate i came away with all this because i didnt want a wasted journey and no engine to rebuild....
from what iv listed what am i playing with?? also how do i identify a t34 turbo???..weres the cheapest and best place to get forged pistons and steel rods from...
cheers woz

the easy/quick way to check if its a long stroke 1.6..(e.g 1.9).would be to take the sump off and look at the rod bolts... as they use the 1.8 cvh crank and rods the rod bolts will be of a stud and nut configuration..and to check the turbo most stock t34's have a raised rectangle section on the compressor housing...hope this helps

Wahay!! I've lost my Virginity!!
How did this end up?
- As said, if its a 1,9 the way to tell if the heads off id to measure the stroke.
- Something i keep meaning to do with mine but as it runs the head stays on!

No, no leads, not photos. no outcome?
I saw a 1900 PE kit on ebay (used rods/pistons/crank without block) saved the photos to compair with myown. However annoying in the time between saving them and finding the photos i took last time i had the sump off ive actually now lost the photos from ebay to compair them. However, this is a shot from the bottom of my proberbly PE 1900 cvh.

Yes, clearly that would be the definitive method of working out the size. Unfortunately when i had the sump off i was slightly pushed for time and working in the dark. But i guess it should be possible to get a stoke/bore measurement from underneath without taking the head off.
Clearly the OPs head is (or was 6 months ago) off mines not and you can really get a good line onto the piston through the spark plug hole for the sort of accuracy that would be needed to define the stroke as being that of a PE 1900 or a normal 1600.
Otherwise it would also be possible, for the cost of a head gasget, to take the head off and be done with it. While also confirming the TDC mark. Probably replacing the bolts with non-stretch bolts.
