oil light comes on wen car idles and flickers any one have any ideas ?

gessing its a s2 rst? have you got any oil in it what oil are you useing? when was the oil filter last changed? whats the milage

dodgy pressure sensor or low oil pressure due to low level or something like a faulty pump

If the engine has a bit of wear, well a lot actually and it only does it at idle, so long as you keep oil changed etc I wouldn't worry, I've had cars with gauges where they went to zero at idle!!
So long as it's ok when revved is more important, if it does have crank wear this could o it, or even a low idle speed ?, others things as said also can cause this.

change the switch
then start looking at engine strip downs etc

it idle just under 1ooo rpm but goes down and up iv just swapped the engines over and wasnt doin it wen i first started it it is s2 rs turbo im running it on 0w 4o motor sport have not been gettin much boost so i made the rod a bit shorter on the waste gate cheeRS for lookin people hope u can heellpp

0w 40? Wouldnt use anything that thin myself on that engine - try upping it to around 10w 40 or 15w 50!!

yeh 10w 40 ss is the recommomened oil, that will be ya problem then i think cos it might not be reading it cos of the low viscosity

It wont be the fact that its too thin to read the oil pressure - the fact is he has got low oil pressure probably due to the fact that the oil is too thin when hot - thus not being able to build up the correct oil pressure!!
