fiesta tdci black smoking
Hi, i have been offered a 53 reg fiesta tdci. Its advertised as needing a new turbo as its black smoking. I went to look at it and he is correct it is black smoking at tickover. I took off the turbo inlet pipe and the turbo spins up ok so not siezed.
Now as its black smoking i would of expected the turbo to be siezed not worn as this would cause blue smoke - burning the oil, am i right??
So i guess what im asking is does it sound more like injectors?
Has anyone had a simular problem?
There also seems to be some pressure when you stick your hand over the oil filler, is this normal?
I guess worst case it needs an engine which i can do. I can get the car for £1800 with only 70000 miles service history and its tidy, with an engine for £650 would still make it cheap.
Thanks Dan.

.
Didnt think it would be the turbo unless its totally siezed causing it to run rich with hardly any air getting through but it seems to spin ok.
Only thing that is worrying me is that its breathing heavy through the oil filler cap, is this normal for this engine as my old van does this and its ok.
