4x4 Saphire - Radiator fans don't shoot...
Hello.
The radiator fans stop working, so my cossie heats up in traffic.
The fuse in the box is OK, does anyone know were is the heat valve on the car ?
Any more ideas ?
Thanks in advance.
Regards
Jorge

Hi.
I plug a piece of wire and connect it to the switch and then to the chassis (-) of the car or to the positive (+) of the baterie ?
Sorry for this question, but some cars connect the switch to positive and not to earth....
I will make a alternative wiring to this switch, operated by hand inside on the car, so if the automatic fails, I will turn them on myself
Besides the fuse on the fuse box, do the fans have somekind of relay somewere ?
Thanks
Jorge

so earth to fan switch should trigger the fans if not could be the fuse holder conecter is not making contact
best thin is to make or have made a loom with two fan s though two relays twin fused and this is done straight from the battery so fans stay on less time and less current drain

Right 1st thing the wire goes down to the fan switch that goes to earth
so earth to fan switch should trigger the fans if not could be the fuse holder conecter is not making contact

Great !
I will try that twin fan double fused W/ double relays instalation after I deal with the gremlin that is stopping the fans
Thanks for the help.

I never bother with two relays two fuses etc, as the bit that gives most trouble is normally the switch or the std ford wiring which is shit.
Just get yourself a normal single pole single throw(spst) relay and wire that in with a nice little home made circuit, fused at battery end, if you switch it this way easy to put in a overide switch as well.
The major problem is the range of the fan switch, they only really need cylcing around 1 or 2 degress either side of a set point, but the std fan switch spans over 10C, that's why it is on a long time, eg I have mine set to come on at 95C an go off at 92C, works perfect.Do a search on here there will be loads of circuit drawings for this.

this is a common problem with the cozzy, the relay connections under the fuse board burn out.
here is a simple single relay set up for the modification to the fan system.
you will need a relay of 30amp or 40amp (prefered) and a fuse of min 30 amp.
the connections need to be good and secure. you will need to splice or connect into the power supply down at the fans and remove the existing wireing connection at the fan switch.
to test the system after instalation simply join the two wires at the fan switch and both fans should operate.if the fans dont operate when the engine is warm then replace the fan switch. there are several configurations to use two relays. you can use one relay to activate the other or run a second identical system. but one relay is sufficient to run the fans. it is very important to make sure that all power supplies from the battery go through a fuse.
a few hours should be all thats need to do this modification tidy
if you need anymore help. just post up or send me a pm
good luck

OK,
I will use this esquematics and will also and a manual override switch, so I can turn the system by hand in case of automatic function fail.
Many thanks to everyone for the help.
