I would start by cleaning all the earths coming from engine/battery, though this is an odd problem, I'm thinking maybe your alternator is spiking.
It's a pitty you can't measure the voltage when this happens. tabetha |

I wouldn't until 100% positive that the present one is faulty, a dodgy connection is more likely, and cheaper, in any case just a new regulator/rectifier can be fitted to yours, or even recon exchange for less than around £50.

Check earths itself, I would think it could be sorted if not with a new regulator and not need a whole new alternator. Check battery voltage with car running and see if it's above what it should be.

well al being well im having a alarm fitted this week by an auto electrian so while he is there ill get him to look into it, as he'll proberly know where to look for the fault
its driving me nuts ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() i do think it is an electrical fault cos the engine temp goes to red and the battery light stay on when you start the engine, when you rev it the battery light goes off and temp guage goes down. also the light of the clock is intermitant as well. we'll wait and see what he says Last edited by cybercypher; 31-01-2010 at 09:12 PM. |
