Can I use a CT20 or CT26 Turbo for my sierra 18TD ? Or too much lag ?

I've a focus tddi 90ps
I've blanked the egr, decat, k&n panel filter and remapped.
What's the next step for more power?
I've tried a manual boost controller but it hits fuel cut.
Do I need to upgrade the map sensor?
Any help much appreciated

Do you have any details on what's involved in the fuel pump modifications?
Thanks

how.
when i have the focus 1.8 TDDI which is 90bhp standard,
ive put a k&n induction on,
and had a stage 1 remap,
which took it to 125bhp with the remap.
and literally 1 week after the fuel pump broke and stoped working.
my car broke down on motorway. literally wednesday 11th novermber 2015.
i had to buy a new pump.
an my car is now fixed ready for me to collect today 17th nov 2015.
im going straight to remapper who done the remap and telling them straight, to take it bk to standard.
as clearly the remap caused the pump to fail..
when on diagnostics.. it came up that after the remap the pump was pushing more fuel through... but the injectors were asking for less fuel...
as a result it fucked the pump up...
but on the plus side if u find someone who can mod the air flow system u wnt need a remap as once u modded the air flow system it will give u an extra 60bhp...
im looking into that next week once sorted some cash out

how is it possible that the pump can take upto 180bhp.

I've a 1.8tddi with egr blank, k&n panel filter, decat and remap.
When it was mapped it took 3 maps to get it right.
Apparently the pump can only take a certain amount of voltage. If you go over that the car will hit fuel cut.
Was your map a custom map or just a generic map?
Edit:
Mine made 102hp before the map and about 117 after. Anymore and the pump didn't like it.

Hi, what do you mean by modding the air flow system?

then it was sent back and uploaded but a week after the map my fuel pump gave in.
an before the map it was perfect no problems.
iv just had car fixed so il give it another week an see how it goes with new pump if everything gos ok then i no it was just the pump due for changing, but if same happens again i know its the mapp thats fucked the car

Was the replacement pump a new one?
What did it cost if you don't mind me asking?
Cheers

an i got a replacment pump from a ford specialist.
its like new, but fully reconditioned,
and comes with a 6month warranty so cnt complain bout that, and it was only Ł95 plus Ł5 recorded delivery plus vat. the total was Ł119.99
bargain really,
i just had to pay garage for labour of fitting everything then ☺
p.s sorry for late reply i only just finished work

Whats the final figures from all this, Ive got a 1.8 tddi out of a focus that Im going to hopefully throw in a Mk3 fiesta diesel dont need much but a bit more torque would be nice, looking for about 140hp and 280ish torque

I'm Finding My Feet Here Now
Not sure bout the focus engine but i had plenty of mk3 fiesta's and with it's turbo diesel (no ecu version) i had an uprated turbo i think it was a t3 from a cossie that was fitted, everything else was stock, oh yea i had a subaru sti bonet scoop right on top of the factory intercooler! but i ran 35psi reliably for years, i don t know about numbers but a remapped mk4 golf's where no match for me and if going uphill i'd smoke (literally) cars with 2x the power
#53
Thanks for the info, my Fiesta is the non turbo NA model, would I have to change the pump and lower the compression if I found a turbo and ancillaries that would fit on or is it just pump and turbo, also was you running the standard gearbox?
Thanks again
Thanks again

you mean the 1.8 n/a diesel ? as far as i know there was no turbo diesel model as stock. turbo manifolds intercooler and turbo from all other 1.8 diesels should fit though you need oil feed and return. That's what i did on mine before blowing the turbo and fitting a bigger one. I left everything standard since internals are the same. To the best of my knowlegde only camshaft and head gasket are different but not a 100% sure. The only thing i modified was the pump, I took it to a shop and they fitted the valve thing on top but my pump was bosch (bosch pumps have the diesel screw adjuster in the top rear and is externaly mouonted lucas pumps is internal) to begin with so cannot be sure on lucas ones.
To fit the standard escort turbo i had to move the brake booster further to the passenger side, i used the bolts on the right(when looking from the front) in the holes of the left and made new holes for the bolts on the right also need to lenghten the bar that connects the pedal to the booster. i only came into clearance issues when fitting the t3 but nothing that a few good hits with a hammer to the bulkhead couldn't fit.
Clutch i suggest you replace unless it's brand new cause it'll start to slip pretty fast if you have a heavy right foot like me and give it some boost, as far as gearboxes go i never had any issues and the only reasons i changed was ratios. They have a number on the side in roman numerals and i was told that's the gear and final drive ratios but i don't think they had stronger boxes also i never broke any shafts either.
If you can find a turbo kit with everything ie.. manifolds intercooler and pump would be the easiest unless you want to go front mount.
below is the only pic i could find of my old fezzie, intercooler is directly below the scoop so that it can breath fresh air since it sits ontop of the exhaust and stock has a closed bonnet

Thanks again for the info, yes mine is the NA (Ive edited) non turbo, also I am LHD, was your brake booster on your drivers side, right hand or with linkage on the left hand side, I will also check the turbo oil feed, I think it comes from the oil cooler on the back of the engine, maybe it is the same and they just put plug in it. Mine is also fitted with the bosch diesel pump

mine was right hand drive and booster was on the passenger side so on top of the gearbox with the linkage. You have the booster without a linkage correct?
i didn't have an oil cooler on mine and i honestly forgot where i made the tee for the oil feed but i think it was somehwere near the oil filter not sure if it was a sandwitch plate or there are some blanked holes it's been over 10 years now, for the return i took the sump off cleaned it made a hole and welded a pipe on, some sumps are cast and it's a nightmare to weld to and they'l literally break in 2 if you don't put them right and tighten in order. but i managed to find one that wasn't.

If you have time and you know other guys that have done the modification to the fuel pump could you grab some pic or see if there is a part number on the added unit please
Thanks
