Default Sierra (etc) 1.8TD tuning

I know (in theory) a lot of TD tuning, what does what and why (very different to petrol tuning too TBH), but whats anyone here personally done to the crappy old 1.8TD Ford engines?

And how do you turn the fueling up on the pump, ive never looked, but seems fairly simple considering the amount of folks who seem to.

On a peugeot td, there is a screw inside the pump which you turn to increase fuelling, but don`t know if the same applies with the sierra td.

Proberly no use to you, but its a reply

it's amazing how much power you can get from a turbo diesel engine. I got a 1.6 diesel with a P100 turbo and it really cool to use for every day. The bosh pump is really easy to adjust just 2 spanners 10 and aflat screw driver to turn up the fuel but on the TD is a little bit harder to adjust! Some guys over here swap the TD pump for a bosh ( 1.8 standard one) and make a transit pump plunger and it's like you got some other 30bhp but you will get an issue about the black smoke!!!

would the pump timing being adjusted cause it to have problems starting?

I got a x plate MK6 Escort van. Been lowered 100m on the ass with flipped axle
and Monroe gaz struts with apex springs on the front, I have basically a standard 1.8TD engine with out intercooler. What i did to increase the power was do away with the boxes in the exhaust system then enlarged the bore size of the exhaust its self buy fitting the tubular sections from a XR3i and instead of having it come out of the left side only it comes out of both sides. The only time the two pipes join is at the manifold . By doing it has allowed the turbo ( being a low blow) to have less if not no resistance.
I had a cone air filter but found that with it being a turbo it wasn't letting the engine load up so to speak to let the turbo spool up faster ie lag so to change that ive customized a flat carb k&n chrome filter.
Ive fitted a triple paddle clutch and quick shift to going threw the gears dont take that long lol
)
you can buy racing cams. i know piper do one but not to sure about kent.
The van will top out now at 120mph
