Hi...I have just got a WB AFR gauge and I am in doubt how far down the exhaust I shall place the sensor .....

What is your opinion ??

As close to the turbo as possible..most people stick it just before the bend in the downpipe..

According to the instruction, If its too close to the turbo the heat from it shortens the live of the sensor, Also it has to be between 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock position, Thats only if its on a horizontal section of the exhaust though

the max operating temp is around 900ºC so after the sump is probably a good place... and least 15º from horizontal avoid condesation retetion in the sensor

I'd be a little worried if you're getting EGT's of 900C after the turbo!

I have to say that in my experience if you are running the WB for tuning, if it is too far away from the engine, the info is not quick enough. I run mine about 4 inches back from the turbo, and it has lasted a very long time.

I have a boss at the bottom of the pipe for other things, and to be honest, it isnt as good

Hope this helps

JJ
