Default best ford shows to attend

hi guys
iv always went to crail and knockhill and some cruises but looking to come to a few ford events, my pals have always said passionford meets are good and are friendly to all makes and models, my pals have got an rs focus an esco cossie and a few others fords
a few ppl have said to me to avoid the likes off the rsoc and escort cosworth owners events as they are abit clique like and up themselves and each other sit and polish cars all day and look down on other folks cars and big up theres kind of thing, where as my pals say passionford is a fun equal event where its more of a laugh and about enjoying yourself, whats ppls opinions on passionford events and other ford clubs events or clubs whats your experiences on the ford scene ?

2 ways of looking at this, from a taking part angle and that simply of a attendee, classic ford is a great show as mentioned and since they started enforcing age criteria of club cars it has helped the show get back on track as everyone was sick of seeing rows of STs and FRS at this show so if clubs actually stick to the rules and should not be displaying any cars newer than 1991 unless its a sierra, ford fair should not need any expanation really its the biggest in europe and all new for this year is ford fest at santa pod and not forgeting ford live in scotland, for me the regional local events are a must as the diverse nature gives you plenty to look at as after a couple of fords shows you need a break from the blue oval and for me personally having been there and done it I feel like you about some rsoc shows so I no longer attend

Even if your cars are too new for Classic Ford it's still worth coming down on the Saturday to camp and then be ready for the show Sunday as it does get busy.

Great craic on the Saturday night plus Ford Only on the strip 5-8pm

+1 for Classic Ford & Ford Fair

Not much use to you in Glasgow, but did a couple of regional shows last year for the first time and they were really good, witha wide range of everything motoring related.
Basingstoke Festival of Transport and the Uxbridge Motor Show. Both well worth a look.

Might try Chris Evans' CarFest event this year as it's reasonably local to me

classic ford is an absolute must imo, shame the rules weren't actually enforced last year as a fair few st owners decided the age restriction on cars didn't apply to them

3 for me in order are

1/ classic ford pure grass roots
2 central day
3/ fordfair

But tbh my number 1 reason to visiting the shows is social and catch up in person with everyone

My son I and I went. He left his MK1 Focus RS in the car park as he knew of the 1991 rule, but when we got in, there were so many others that were ignoring the rule, he went back out and fetched it in and parked it on our stand. Didn't get challenged at all on his way in!
If they're going to impose a rule, then it should be enforced for everyone, not just the select few

iv always heard passionford of being a friendly bunch and just car lovers in general and there local events are about catching up with pals and enjoying the car scene, iv heard ford fair to be a great get together aswell, alot of folk have said to me about the likes of the rsoc and to stay away as there a diffrent breed, all for the rs badge, my pal has an esco cosworth and said he went once and wont go back as there all about the rs badge and low mileage, they over value there cars, more about profit than enjoying driving there cars act superior to other ford owners and live in a dream land with no life and was not for him as he found it boring and not his kind of people

Depends on the group you hook up with. I regularly go to the Middlesex & Surrey group meets and they're a great bunch, and are in it more for the love of the car than the badge. Get a good mix of cars each club night, and not all RS's

The Rsoc show sene is a little different as they like the RS show cars to be well represented and do take it a little bit more serious

The pf lot well what can I say We have imo a better stand as we can have all fords on the stand and over the years we have had some amazing cars like lotus cortinas to mk1 fiestas race cars track cars then RS cars as well so we put on a real interesting stand but not just populated with RS badge so between the difference in stands I think it covers all bases all top cars with a twist ! The pf mob are a good grin too most of us just turn up for the grin

the thing is Del those clubs /groups who broke the rule and let later cars on their stands were all noted and as a result the organisers have stated they will all be issued with outskirt positions as a result and only those that obeyed the rules 100% in criteria will be given the best plots as a result

We couldn't have been further from the centre of the show last year if we'd tried Steve , so I don't think it'll make whole lot of difference if we do get penalised this year.
I guess the proof of the pudding will be when the show arrives this year, let's see what happens then.

Who are this 'lot' of people. You don't own an RS i assume . So I don't enjoy driving my RS how do you know. Profit whats that its cost me 100k in the last 19 years . I don't value my car the RSOC do that they are the experts & my insurance company listens. Superior to other Fords well you may have a point, I hate Fords & only the Iconic Cosworth badge would get me near one, the Ford GT is an exception. Perhaps you should come & check what sort of life this RS dream land has given me . Boring yes you got me there I have a degree in that im also old, boring & old the average RS owner . Finally a different breed well must admit that im only 5'1" tall so not human .
Seriously we are all Petrol heads & I don't give a hang what car you have & you should feel the same about mine.

ive owned to rs turbos and now a focus rs, its just what iv heard to be honest might be totally wrong, but he just felt the escort cosworth and rsoc meet he went to were more car collectors than car enthusiasts all they did was talk about keeping values high and storing cars away for investment to sell later for profit, which he felt was a shame, so is the rsoc more a middle aged car club?

There is good and bad in the ford scene but one common factor is we are all bonkers as we own fords , touching on what Jay said as regards show criteria as last year I refused entry onto our club stand of 30+ cars simply to obey classic fords criteria to the letter only to discover many did not give a toss and brought in post 1991 cars and plonked them on club stands and even some had non fords too

kelsey the new owners of fast ford mag who are now behind classic ford/ford fair/ford fest have got to get their act into full swing or 2015 will go tits up for all, rules need to be made and stuck too with zero tollerance as people will never learn
