This weekend saw me take ownership of some lower arms which are rose jointed and have adjustable lower swivels for camber adjustment.
These however have been stripped already and taken to be painted silver with new stianless inserts for the bearings.
I have also purchased a new gearbox which Adam the legend picked up for me from way up North well 3 hrs drive there lol
[img]
Details
THE GEARBOX FEATURES A LATE TYPE BIG BEARING CASE WHICH WAS ALSO BUILT WITH A BRAND NEW FORD CROWN WHEEL AND PINION, NEW BEARINGS AND OIL SEALS. THIS GEARBOX ALSO HAS A MODIFIED FINAL DRIVE GEAR RATIO WHICH ALLOWS FOR A MUCH GREATER TOP SPEED. A TOP SPEED OF 160 TO 170 MPH IS POSSIBLE IF YOU ARE PULLING AROUND 7500RPM. GEARBOX ALSO FEATURES A QUAIFE ATB DIFF
Hoping to eliminate torque steer alltogether with these fitted and the box will be suited to the new engine once complete. [/img]

Surely its time for an update -
Well been bust enjoying the cvh engine and getting things sorted for the magazine feature which is now done and dusted and due out 19th July..
The zetec engine build has been underway but at aslow rate - been researching lots and specing the engine to the requirements i need/want.
Im not overally happy with some of the inlets applications avialble so i have gone about building my own with help from various people along the way, the cnc billet flange is currently having the header tubes fabricated which go from port shape through to circular to join on to the plenum base.
The plenum base has a set of fancy cnc billet rams from Dellorto which will bolt up nicely. As for the plenum itself this was sourced and made in the states with a press fit end cap with 3 x threded outlets to run vacums etc off, this now needs to be welded on and sealed properly along with the throttle end being machined up and welded..

Cheers mate (pratley) at the mo im running 235bhp which is excellant fun and the car handles it perfectley with no traction issues or torque steer, so im hoping to boost the power up to a still useable 350bhp with the right mapping and traction system.

Why do i do it????
Well 3 weeks till Ford Fair and iv gone a bit mad with the car alloy fuel tank is ordered up from Pro Alloy and i have to plumb all this in and fix it in.
Then after being undecided on the roll cage i have decided to lose the bolt in saftey devices rear half and opt for a full blown custom cages weld in number with strengthner plates along pillars and a selection of braces.
Cage has turned up and is all duck taped in for now - start the welding tonight. Although im thinking why the fuck did i choose to do this now with only 3 weeks to go....
Im going to need all the luck in the world and i forsee many a late night.
Il post some pics up as i get a chance

We have progress today - begun with an early start and round to my mate Russes for some welding action of the new cage. pics will follow....
The this afternoon i started to make the legs for the plate alloy i made for the Pro Alloy fuel tank to sit in.
Im building the car with weight in mind so i thought best to drill some holes and i think they look better also drilled out.
Tank should be arriving on Tuesday.
Post some more once home tonight.
Let me know what you think peeps

What a day was up early, looking forward to making the cage.
Got round the garage and set up the new notching tool and tested on a few pieces of tube to see how the finsihed cut looked and fitted aginst the cage already fitted.
Came out pretty well small amount of filing to remove any swarf left.
Then i bagan the measuring of the door bars rar diagonals and the x for the rear.
Once the rear diagonals were made and secured in place with duck tapes finest, i was able to continus and make the first part of the x.
Pretty tricky getting the notching tool so be stable and christ the noise, i have one bad boy headache now...
Sounds like a propeller blade smashing through a wall.
Finally after 4 hrs of sweating and bit of first aid on a cut thumb, the joigsaw was complete, the rear x was complete but had to cut in the middle for welding.
Mmmmmm how do i measure the angle..... after considering options the obvious sprung to mind, find the cente and drill vertically through with the hole saw.... Sorted fits like a glove...
Back to russes in the week to get all tacked in then finally welded.
Wicked weekend, although fucked i really enjoy the fabricating and frustrations that come with making the car your own.
Just shitting the fact i have under 3 weeks to finish it painted as well.

Kinda been bit lazy on the old updates of late, so apoligies.
Couple of pictures courtesy of FAST FORD.
More to follow...
If you have been to any shows this summer i have been at the majority and the car has performed pretty well im glad to say.
Ford Fair was exfellant until my turbo decided to explode and piss the iternals out the exhuast.
Since then a new turbo has been fitted and Silverstone was the next destination for Trax.
Did combe on saturday at eurofest which was mental day - really started to get into it and was doing some good laps. Cracking circuit....
Tonight however the car is being stripped of its engine and for sale shortly.

I decided the beginning of this year that ideally i wanted to have this car running the zetec engine which it came with originally (RS1800 shell).
At the time i had already the cvh turbo built so that was to be used.
Over the summer ive had good use with the car and sorted the daily problems you encounter out. Finally it was finished and Saturday i had the best day ever at Combe in it. where it handled braked and acclerated like not alot else on track.
But i have to start the zetec turbo build so today saw me scewdriver in hand remove the intercooler and pipework etc....
Im not joking when i say i almost had a tear in my eye, all the hard work ive put in seems almost wasted and my mate dan(cossiedrift) just called me then to say what the fXck are you doing!!!!!!
Got my heart set on some of those comp th's too, anyone fancy a group by on 15s

The rest i and Jkm Performance will assemble, - its going to need all the exhaust system custom built and the inlet manifold set up.
Pro alloy will be called in again for the intercooler and pipework, with as little silicone joins as possible.
I with the aid of some good friends in the know have advised with the spec of pistons turbo and head spec. Im all set to begin

my fav fiesta obviously after mine tho
love the interior styling and attention to detail, exterior is the way i would have done it also, youve kept the strips and original bumpers
should have done a 1600cvh grudge match with me before you took it out
good luck with the change to zetec

I always wanted to keep the outside as standard as possible. The inside kinda gives it away though now, it was intended to be a sleeper
Then the track theme came along...and im hooked.

Well after a week of umming and rrrrr ing i decided to list the items i decided to sell, those being the engine and all associated parts, in the engine bay.
These all sold within the week which i was fairly happy about and i can now focus on my new engine build.
I then however decided last night to sell the gearbox which i only bought 4 months agi, this went on ebay and within the hour it was sold.
I cant believe that 1 week ago i was on track at Combe and this week im left with a car that resembles ya average car up the scrap yard lol...
Roll on the paypal money to come in so i can get shopping for the new goodies
