There is still something else definitely going on his engine or set up you've got to admit that! Just changing the turbo isn't going to change that unless you get your mits on the mapping and set up of course.

well the oracle has spoken but you're still not a believer!

i will update this thread in a month or so if you wish when its running again. there are a number of people on here who swear by the 7064 but i cant find anyone on here or in the wider world apart from you who swears by the 7163 on a 2 litre and as far as i understand, you haven't even run one yet?

Literally thousands of them out there on subarus and evos in USA.

the 7064 May well suit a yb better than the 7163, but a Yb that is boost restricted throughout the rev range?

dont get me wrong I'm not a knobber and I totally hope this new turbo sorts the whole issue. I just have a wee feeling that your tuner who couldn't use his det cans probably has a lot to answer for!

I dearly want to upgrade to a long stroke 2.2 or 2.4 but I know I will most likely lose my 7064 and I do not want to lose the throttle response. I will probably accept 470 bhp and keep the turbo than go bigger and have 500-550 plus......although a mental 600-640 is still interesting

I think the 7670 on one of my engines will be pretty special. It already is on the evos I do with that on it.

Do you think that on alloy block we will not lose low torque and throttle response by upping cc and turbo size?

Can't wait to do it then. Once my chassis is sorted I think we will get going with the parts gathering.

Thank you all for the comments and remarks.
Lots to learn.

The cooler is a 4x4, will try to duct the air more into the cooler to force the air through it and see what the temp. will do. As mentioned: maybe the “contacttime” in the cooler will be to short + most wind will go over the body but let’s see what it brings.
Manifold was bought from Oppliger and indeed I had to cut of the external waste gate.

Try to make everything fit at the moment. (oil, water and air + bodywork, all body work will be made from carbon as soon as the shaping and dyno is done.)

Looks good. Does carbon fibre heat transfer like alloy or stainless? With the end tanks poking out in the wind I wonder if you can get the cooling there too?

My end tanks have rubber over them to seal the front of the car and force air through the cooler but I wonder if I should expose the tanks more?

Aluminum for sure is much better than Carbon for cooling (carbon doesn't transfer heat), but I can’t weld aluminum
As mentioned before, if there is a vacuum behind the cooler your good but if there is overpressure it first has to be compensated before the flow will go through the cooler I guess.

earlier on i mentioned the 'scoop' that dax originally supplied. this sat between where your intercooler is and the cam pulleys and directed the air exiting the cooler upwards through a cut out in the bonnet. they also provided a 'splitter' which went on top of the rad and 'split' the air entering the nose cone between the rad and the cooler. the whole thing didnt work very well however
