The thing handles quite nice for a big old bus, but the back end being so much higher Han the front just doesn't look right. It's 15mil higher than the front. With all the cages in the back it's never going to take the load of the average estate, and no passengers either. I'll keep it at a useable ride height, and will have it set at the least stiff setting possible.

Looks good that! I did see some pictures of yours when I looked around for help with how to lower mine. I decided to go for coilovers on mine because I want to adjust the height until it's right. I want it low and level but useable every day, and with the wheels sitting nicely in the arches.
The AP kit I've gone for should be here at the end of the week and it'll be on its Arse some time thereafter. My mats have turned up and fit great, and I've got the interior part that goes around the gear stick (from a friendly PF member) which I can't wait to get in place and fit some neater switches. The whole thing is really feeling well put together now.

Its pretty good actually; not as firm as i expected. It clears speed bumps with ease, but I'm getting a bit of scrubbing between the arches and the back wheels if I'm on particularly bumpy roads. Nothing slowing down doesn't fix. All in all, I'm really pleased.

The dog van is in for some spring updates; getting a full stainless exhaust and an induction kit. Getting a full service with cam belt replaced too. Should all be done in the next couple of weeks, looking forward to seeing, hearing and hopefully feeling the difference.
I'm considering getting the roof and the air vent on the top wrapped in black too. Anyone got any thoughts? Opinions welcome!

10K+ Poster!!
The picture that says coilivers are on is of a lowering spring, I assume the front only has coilovers as the rear doesn't have turrets. Is the shock absorber in board on these at the rear?

There isn't really a stiffness setting on coilovers, the spring rate alters stiffness. Assume you have adjustable damping which controls the speed of the spring? Winding the spring up and down on a coilovers doesn't alter the stiffness, just the ride height, the spring is normally constant all the way through the stroke.

black roof is esthetically a sweet choice, but it could make it hotter. donno how hot are summer suns up-there, but if you do that, bear in mind you might need the air conditioning working for real.
especially in the back, where the puppy seats and there might not be such as good roof insulation as in the front cabin.
...just a thought... i've found hard to figure how the ac works between front and back from the first pics...

Pass. I honestly have no idea. I've always lived by the notion that if I'm not sure, I'll pay someone else to do it; so I bought the kit from a shop who fitted it. I got it back looking like it does, exactly as low as I'd hoped for.

After a bit of a moment with the company I bought it from; the K&N induction kit is on. I was a bit of a doubter but I can't believe the difference it's made to the sound of the engine. Not completely sure if I can tell a difrence in acceleration, but I wasn't expecting one, and when the exhaust in I'll have more of an idea.
Technical point; any help or advice greatfully received. The kit came with a hose to attach to the grill at the front, I guess to let cold air in. There is already a hose that comes from the front that went into the old air box that points right at the new air filter, so I've left it like that without attaching the other hose as well. There really wasn't a lot of room there for another hose to get anywhere near the air filter, but the filter is huge. Any thoughts on if this'll be ok?
The story with the kit is a bit of light reading at best. The company I bought it off broke the seal on the box, took all the parts out to take a picture and didn't put all the parts back in. They lost my missing part, so had to order it from k&n who sent it directly to me next day delivery, costing them about £50 in total. I'll never understand why anyone breaks a seal on a box to take a picture of what's in a box that already has a picture of what is in the box, on the box. Still, good service and a good outcome.

The exhaust is on; custom built by demand engineering in Suffolk. They did the exhaust on guy Martin's transit no less!
The old, blown standard exhaust with a shitty little tag along.
A closer up of that back box
Was nice to see underneath the thing properly.
Nice new shiny pipes and box

Went for a single round tip. It's got a nice slash to it and is a really good fit for the cut out in the bumper. Really pleased with how it looks, and even more how it sounds.

I've also had the camber of the rear wheels adjusted so that they don't scrub on the arches. Also meant I was able to drop it another 5mil all round. I'm now as low as I can go at the rear on the coilovers. Not easy to get a picture of really, but here's an attempt.
Mmmm, negative camber.
