RX8 ST170 twinscrew project
Hello,
While ago in 2006 I posted about my Fiesta project on this forum:
https://passionford.com/forum/fiesta...ercharger.html
I'm a bit older now, but doesn't help me to be smarter...
So I just built engine based on ST170 before to know where to put it in.
List of spec so far:
Twinscrew water cooled billet housing 2.6l/rev supercharger
PEC rods
WOSSNER forged low comp pistons
Clevite head gasket
ARP con rod studs
ARP main studs
ARP head studs
PIPER vvt delete kit
PIPER valve spring kit
Clevite H main bearings
Clevite H big end bearings
Overhouled head with match porting intake
Simens DEKA ported 1200cc injectors - Prepared by BJP race shop
Custom Fuel rail
Jenvey intake manifold
Custom CNC supercharger bracket and support designed by me
MOROSSO oil filter adapter with TORQUES remote oil filter housing
PUMASPEED cranckcase breather vent
AP RACING twinplate clutch CP7372 series.
TILTON 8000 series hydraulic release bearing
Burtonpower lightwight flywheel
Aeromotive FPR
GETRAG 265 transmission
And than I get solid mazda rx8 with bad RENESIS engine.
Now the plan is to match engine and RX8 together.
It will require some work to do .
I don't have idea how much HP can such engine handle, but will see...
I will try to keep this topic updated much as possible.

So finally custom bell-housing for matching ST170 engine with Getrag 265 gearbox done. Twinplate AP racing clutch will be operated with TILTON 8000 series release bearing. Design was quite big challenge to match the center of crank and gearbox shafts.

I think belt tensioner will survive due to the toothed wide belt, nevertheless I didn't want to spoil compact engine design with awkward tension system. Bottom supercharger support is also done and new rwd oil pan fitted. Engine is also fitted in the engine bay. Bellhousing weight is 9,4kg.

Just forgot to mention. My previous crazy swap was EATON supercharged 2.0l Zetec with 150 hp direct port nitrous shot built in Toyota MR2. With this car I won KING of Europe drag racing/street class competition in 2012. Runs 12.1 but should manage to go under 12 if axle will not snap when I hit the NOs to soon (to soon junior)... for this car I also get some medals on various JAP/car meets on this side of Europe. Honda/Japan domestic guys was jealous hehe.

Hi,
If anyone interested I did measurement of used valve springs vs. performance valve springs. On fist graph you can see stock used ST170 valve springs and on second graph performance. As you can see spring rate for performance springs is much better and more consistent.
