Hi thank you for your response, indeed the engine compartment of the MK1 seems smaller than the mk2, it will surely be easier indeed.

Congratulation for your own, it is really successful, it's a great project that can be a pride.

Default it's alive

it's a proud day today, put the battery on and some fuel in and through ill go for it, turned the key and it started first time, not bad for an engine that's stood for 18months then been shoe horned into a poor little fiesta, sounds bloody evil, thanks jaz at mij Walsall for a nice job on the stainless exhaust, not very neighbour friendly but makes me smile, how many db is legal?

thanx, just got to get rid of all the warning lights on the dash, don't know if these engines have a limp mode or not but it's reving up fine, I'd of thought that the abs not being plugged in or in fact not present anymore would put it in limp mode if this has that function, I called 2 auto electricians in the week and neither wanted to go anywhere near it, need a few bits wired properly but if they don't want my money f them, I'll do it myself

going by what you've done already then I think your more than up to the task of doing that plus it will be to your standard and not messed up by others.

As you have used the donor dash it could have Can bus capabilitys depending on the year ie2001> So with out signals you will get errors.

You didn't need the dash or the full Mondeo loom, the engine ecu would have been happy on its own.

Default big wasa

hay dude, yeah that's was my original though but the fiesta had no loom, fuse box or anything so thought if I transfer everything from the mondeo at least I have something to work with, I'm not bothered about the fault lights being on, I could just remove the bulbs as they don't come into it for mot, cars to old, but I don't want anything putting it into limp mode, I don't even know if this engine does that as I can't find 1 single case or mention of a 2.5 v6 doing that on the net anywhere, seems to be the diesel that does it, the doner was a 2002 ghia, any help or suggestions as to predicted problems would be great, tar

Hook up an obd2 reader and check out the engine side. You can miss bits that will give a code but it will still run happy.

Have you connected up stuff like clutch switch ? Ac switches and purge valves ect.?

I can connect the clutch switch as it's still in the loom by the pedal box, what's it for? don't know what the perge valve is? and I've wrapped all the plugs for the air con up and disconnected them all as didn't think they would be an issue, I could fish them all back out but would be a pain as I taped them all in then cloth wrapped the whole loom

Obd2

No need to spend much more than a tenner.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-OBD2-E...UAAOSwKu9TxeSO

There are a selection of load switches. These up the rpm a touch to avoid stalling ect and other functions I don't know the full extent but they do all sorts.

There is one for the throttle pedal as well for WOT. It cuts the ac compressor at full throttle.

I would have to check my notes but I think the clutch switch is a normally closed switch so if your not using it. It needs earthing.

Again I think the Ac switches are normally open do can be left disconnected.

There could be one for the heated screens.

Purge valve is the canister purge valve. It's an ecu controlled valve that collects the fuel tank vapour and sticks it into the inlet manifold so as not to vent hydrocarbons into the atmosphere, it's an emissions thing. It will show a code if not connected.

thanks, that makes sense, pretty easily resolved, the carbon emissions thingy is connected and plugged in as I've used the mondeo tank and I replicated the fuel line layout, the pedal box switches I can incorporate so should be o. k, just had a look at those readers and was surprised how cheap they are so ill get it ordered, thank you for taking the time to reply and helping out, your a good un, come say hi if you see the car at a show, I'll get us a beer

what engine's you build, I think if I do another in the future I'll probably go 304chevy in a mk2 fez or ford small block, I still want to build a twin skyline engine nova but that really is some serious work, this has been a long build and with a house and family to pay for i can't see it being soon, this moddin cars stuff is addictive, men are just big kids, I sat on the drive last night reving the engine shouting fuck yeah, cuz it sounds so nice, wife pulled up and walked up the drive shaking her head saying I'm moving out, she'll be alright, I'll buy her something nice for Christmas lol

I play with a lot of ford engines, anything fuel injected.

2.0 zetec/st170 hybrid turbo + 6spd

Duratec

St220 + 6spd

All the above are/will be on ford ecu's.

4.0 Rv8 Holley carb and megajolt ignition.

For the same reasons as you it's been a while since I finished one. I really should do one at a time.

Last one

anyone know if xr3i rear springs will fit as I have lowering springs on now but looks really low and I have water pipes running over the top of the back beam and don't want to catch them, I'll swap someone if they want fez lowering springs and have an old set of xr3i ones lying round, don't care about ride comfort just need higher and stiffer, ones on are 230mmx107mm

Default wheels

anyone want some wheels to push a project about on before I put them out for the scrap man, 195/45/16. 7j offset, bit shifty with knackered tyres but you can have them if you collect, better than ruining your decent ones if grinding, welding, painting etc. ford 4 stud

Will do, if you see the Orion pop over although I won't be at any all Ford shows this year. You owe me nothing, were all here to help each other
I've still not been to any shows this year atm and am still waiting to hear back on attending others which is not looking good
Never mind a year out of the shows might do me good...
