RWD MK4 Escos
Now I am certain most of you will no this car & at present I can take no credit for it. I was toying with the idea of building one for a long time but with my new buisness I just didn't have the time.
I read through a lot of resto's with great admiration & im hoping by me starting one of my own it'll motivate me more into getting it finished for early summer.
So after bending Billy's ear for a while we managed to sort a deal for me to take the car as a rolling shell, this way I could put my own mark on it & make it my own.
At present it sits like this in my workshop
Looking abit sorry for itself but I've already been purchasing a few bits to get the build started...
This arrived yesterday from Belgium.... Big thanks to Bart
Rebuilt 200 block
On the stand now ready for a clean up
The plan at them minute is to go for a full colour change, I like the colour now but I'm never going to get away from it being "that's Billy's car" (Sorry Bill ) and doing it now while the car is mostly stripped would make a lot more sense.
I'll keep this updated as & when, hopefully be going in for paint in the next week or so..... Watch this space!

Nice!
I did wonder about the car after seeing some bits come up for sale from it. Glad to see its being saved, i'd love another rs turbo let alone a cossied one.
Do it proud james, it looks good on the tarmacs

They sit well but think they'll rub under load... I'm sure they're 17x8 et42 with 205/40/17's.
I'm the same, as of yet I have no wheels lined up and from speaking with Billy anything wider than a 7.5" is a no go.

Cheers mate, it's the fronts that are the issue, the rear Sierra axle with standard Cossie wheels is only a few MM wider each side than a standard RS turbo, but the front Escort axle is narrower than the Escort rear by a good 10mm each side. the front Sierra is wider than the rear, so the front will stick out more, I've widened my arches by 25mm all round to help but it's still an issue I need to address. I really want an 8j 215 on the rear with a 7j 205 front.
Does yours run standard width axles front and rear???

Few small updates.
Started stripping out the rest of the parts under the bonnet ready for prepping
Dash is out now as is the front part of the cage
Tomorrow I will be removing the doors, boot & kit ready for some new colour.
Im working nights this week so all being well we should have this prepped & primed for next weekend!

Small update on the colour.....
Now I've been playing with this idea in my head for a while but would commit until we'd tried it out.
We mixed a small amount of Jewel Violet L4 in solvent based paint & painted 1 of the wing mirror covers, not a perfect job but to see how it looked.
As you can see there's a nice pearl purple in this when in good light but wasn't impressed when it was in shade it looked like a brown/dark magenta.
So we mixed some more, this time using water based & removed some of the red oxide from the mix & we got this!
Again not a perfect Job but it give us a good idea.
I'm 99% sure this will be the colour.
Any thoughts!? Good or bad I can take it !!

We still need to try a few samples on different colour primers.
We tried it straight over the grey that's it's painted in now then on a base white to see if it would pop more but wasn't much difference.

I would go with the white base. When the full car is painted I think it would make a big difference to the colour on the larger panels. Would definetly look lighter. Your call tho
