Good to see you working on something car related!
I have the hiab too but not found time to build it yet.
My son loves playing with the models and I enjoy building them so I have a cupboard full of the latest technic models.
The big excavator and Volvo loader are good to build and the gearbox in the green recovery truck is really clever how it works,I have 4 big motorised models to build if I can find time ha ha.

Awesome,I'm looking forward to starting my hiab but I can't get a minute away from work, cars and kids and if I do I'm engrossed in sons of anarchy on sky so once I start I can't stop.
I have 4 big sets sitting in their boxes I wanted to build this winter, the mk2 crane, hiab, big motorised bulldozer and the big blue tracked crane.
I'll take some pics and post them up later on.
Keep the updates coming, must be hard to concentrate on the instructions and getting all the little bits right when you are in pain.

Kosman plate,ha ha.
I bought my blue 42042 tracked crane from smyths toy store, iirc it was around Ł150.
My 42009 crane like dojj's above was eBay,Ł110
I have the green recovery truck, that's an excellent build and the gearbox and how it works is brilliant, cheap too, around Ł60
I have a big motorised tracked excavator,no longer made by lego but you can get them on eBay for between Ł130 for a built 1 and Ł400 for a new unopened 1,it also builds into a drot so I may buy another and build that.
I have the big motorised bulldozer, took me a year to win 1 and ended up getting a previously built but stripped/boxed 1 for Ł150.
Buying built un boxed models doesn't interest me,I'll buy a built but stripped model as long as it's been stripped and bagged, you wouldn't believe people buy them, build them, strip them and sell them on boxed.
I have loads right back to when I was around ten, those are the studded type and fell apart when you played with them, the new sets are miles better in their detail and operation.
I'll get some pics tonight and post them up!

Here's some of mine, got more in my garage loft inc 3 big models I have not even opened yet.
New tracked crane.

Pneumatic with a small battery powered pump logging truck, got this for my 16th birthday but by then I had grown out of lego technic, only really finished it around 2 years ago 18 years later!

My favourite to build,Volvo 350 loader, fully working and it's got some power as there's reduction gears on all 4 wheels, diffs, center steering,it can lift a good weight and drive over nearly anything.my sons favourite.

Recovery truck and 1 of my 2 lego model team tractor units, these are really brittle now,got this 1 a few years ago as you can build it into a flat front truck and my other 1 I have had since I was about 12

My favourite, the huge excavator.this thing is big, well detailed and fully working, the gearbox is a bit clunky and slow but it's great yo build and play with (so my son says!)

Pneumatic excavator, think I got this when I was 11/12 so will be around 24 years old.

I wouldn't like to know exactly how much I have spent on lego but it must be well over a grand,I had the rare ltd edition crawler,I paid Ł400 I think for it,never opened it and was needing the money for something else so sold it on.
Think I'll buy that again next as they are a bit cheaper now.
I'm not really into the boats or planes, just the construction models and trucks.
I'm putting off building the mobile crane,I have the parts list to make it fully motorised,steering,forwards/backwards,outriggers plus a longer boom.just need time to find somewhere online to buy all the different parts for it.
