rs2000 engine bay and underside restoration.
This is my rs2000 its a mk5 facelift its done 65k its got the early interior with no air bag and has a buldge bonnet previous owner had it for 14 years and did very little dry miles.

Some pics of the box which was cleaned painted all bolts replaced all geniune ford parts were used in the rebuild also fitted new clutch and seals.

Sub frame was removed shot blasted and powder coated also fitted new rack.

Exhaust manifold fitted this was ported and painted all new gaskets nuts bolts etc.

Now for the underside all underseal was removed all taken back to bare metal to check for any rot all floor and front chassis was really good so por 15 rust barrier was used first then rubberised underseal painted radiant red then laquered.

All new suspension fitted got a spax kit with 30mm lowering springs

Tell me about it hasnt stopped raining for the last to weeks car wont see rain will be for sunnydays only which probably wont be many lol.

Also, love the fact you appear to be working in a standard garage and not the luxury of a fully equipped and spacious workshop.
How do you get those 20year old plastic and rubber engine parts looking like factory-new?

Yea just a basic garage mate working of axle stands garage floor is carpet so a bit more comfotable to lay on cars been off the road for nearly a year now but is now more or less finished now and is running just need to put the wheels on and drop it to the floor as for the plastics and rubbers everything was stripped off in the engine bay cleaned with warm soapy water and then cleaned with wd40

All rear end was also taken back to bare metal and was also very good just a few small repairs to rear chassis legs been lucky with the dreaded rot as i know how bad these cars rust luckly the car had been heavily wax oiled and treated when it was fairly new used por15 rust prevention then rubberised underseal painted and laquered.
