Sapphire RS Cosworth
Allow me to introduce to you my newest (old) purchase. A 1991 Sierra Sapphire Cosworth. I've bought this car to replace my Focus ST which unfortunately has been written off due to accident so took this as a chance to get something I've really wanted for a fair few years now. In fact if it wasn't for me getting married this year probably would've got it sooner.
Anyway enough of that let's get on to the reason why you're here. To find out more about the CAR!
As I've already mentioned it's a 1991 Ford Sierra Sapphire Cosworth in Magenta (yes that is the colour) It has spent the last 12 years as part of the Derby RSOC and has been a familiar face to both local and national shows over the last decade (This is the moment when I suddenly realized that the car is nearly as old as I am, just in better condition) It's hit the benchmark with is 100k miles but for a car that is 24 Years Old you wouldn't think it has done anywhere near that amount. Add to that the engine has been thoroughly looked after over the last 12 years I can safely saw that it is in better condition than most of the cars on the road currently. It has been regularly maintained and serviced by Norris Motorsports in Derbyshire.
The spec of the car is as followed:
Engine:
Norris Motorsport Stage 3+ Tune inc
T34 Turbo with 0.63 housing,
Norris Motorsport Stage 1 Head with BD8 Cams and Vernier Pulleys,
Upgraded Multilayered Head Gasket,
Norris Motorsport Stage 3 Live Map,
Bosch 803 Green Fuel Injectors,
Denso IK27 Spark Plugs,
Group A Coil,
RS500 style Intercooler,
Alloy Radiator and additional Turbo Cooling Radiator,
Vibratechnics Competition Engine and Gearbox Mounts,
AP Racing 6 Paddle Clutch.
Chassis:
330mm AP Racing Front Brake Upgrade,
Upgraded Rear Pads with Grooves Discs,
Goodridge Brakelines,
Koni Shocks with Eibach Springs,
Fully Polybushed,
17" Compomotive MO6 Alloy Wheels
Thanks to NMS the engine is now running 348 bhp and 302 ft/lb at 25 psi

Magenta was always the colour I was going to get. Didn't actually have to look for too long to find this either. Must've been right place, right time. Perfect Spec for what I've been wanting so just a little tidy up

In all honesty the Focus ST was a quicker EVERYDAY car but this thing is an animal compared to it. The ST no matter the gear or revs you had enough torque to get you back onto boost and off you go. This has genuine Turbo Lag and I love having to actually have to drive a car to get the most out of it

Yeah mate amazing place to start no matter which direction I decide to go with it. Happy to leave it in the condition it is in now for a while until I have somewhere better to put it where I can make it a real project then

Like the Front Fogs for example. Only one works and the one that doesn't I can't remove since it's rusted in place
So between that and tearing the seat cover the other day got a few things I need to sort out sooner rather than later

Edit: After having a weekend in the Car over New Year (inc a Trip to Ace Cafe on the 3rd Jan) I fell in love with the car again and so will be putting more into the car than I ever imagined I would. Starting with tidying up the exterior/engine bay and getting some new Front Door Cards and the Drivers Seat Repaired before going on to an Audio Build and "Hopefully" sorting out the wiring in the engine bay... Keep your eyes peeled for updates.
Just need to find some inspiration now (and some cash) ...

Yeah Mate. It certainly did manage that. 230 mile round trip to Ace Cafe and back would do that. But did make me realise what I needed to get done on the car as well. Now I just need these parts to turn up now so I can get started on it.

Haven't made an Update for a while so here's a little post...
Went down to the Ace Cafe on the 3rd Jan (Night of the Accident) and fell in love with the Cossie again. Made me realise I NEED to keep the Car and make it more my own as well.

Also had a little issue where the car wouldn't start... Literally would crank but wouldn't start. It was over Xmas when we had all the Crappy Weather. It was parked over at the Inlaws and get Drenched. Went to start it later on in the evening and it just wouldn't get going. Left it a day, covered it up and when I went back to pick it up the following day. Started 1st time. No issues at all...
So since then, the car is REALLY Hesitant whlist under HEAVY Load. Like the car is struggling with Traction or something. It holds Boost perfectly with no issue at all. I've tried looking at the Fuel Pump and the Wiring leading to/from it. Replaced everything that looked Tatty/Damaged. Sorted out some of the Lives on the Battery as well but it's still happening. I'm replacing the AMAL Valve this afternoon and going for a drive to see if it's the problem as well. Apart from that I'm stumped.
