Default St170 (a9 tue)

had a couple of these now and I dont normally post pics of my cars as its just not me but some of you saw it at passionfords 12th birthday party at the ace cafe earlier this month and asked many questions so after a few requests for pics here goes, I know it wont appeal to everyone but my days of turbo and high price tag cars are long past as I have higher priorities in my life thesedays plus been there and done that, This one has the comfort & custom packs as well as every factory option as listed below and is all different to usual standard spec variants which flood ebay and no doubt why my mate grant saw it on monday and offered me £3k for it and I said no

Xenon headlights
Leather heated recaros
Climate control
Parking sensors
Electric Sunroof
Audiophile 6disc
Sub Woofer
Auto-Dimming rear view mirror
Rear Spoiler
Quick clear front & rear screens
ESP braking

this one came up and was too good to refuse, was owned by a biker who frequents the ace cafe and is a mate of my sons and was his winter hack, so picked this up at a steal

apart from the wheels which were in a terrible state of decay the rest of the car was bang tidy with ultra superb spec which is what drew me towards it in the first place tbh, the car started life at essex ford as their demonstrator car which explains the level of spec it has as OE, since owning it I have gone through all the wear n tear stuff upgrading likes of filters, brakes, bushes, bluefin, magnecors, eibach springs & new shocks & Scorpion exhaust system & Sports cat + goodridge brake hoses and a Svt 2nd cold air feed intake etc making sure it was spot on for a long time to come, anyway here how it sits love it or hate it as not everyone is a fan of 170s

at the cafe earlier this month

and a few other randoms for those who keep bugging me

pics of wheels when I got it and this was the best one out of the 4

after powder coat refurb this week

Might actually add to this thread if I keep it long enough lol

this was my other ST a few years back

cant blame you mate, my 170 is my 13th car in 4 years, and the only car I have actually kept longer than a year, strange as the amount it costs to keep it going is crazy, but I just love driving it,

always been a fan of the focus not really the 170 tbh but so far so good on this one as all my RSs were just money pits

Nice motor. its just a shame ford held back on the engine of these cars with the RS coming along. I guess it would have been bad if it was too good.

Nice car Steve. A lad I work with has a silver ST170 it's got the comfort and climate pack. It's a nice car but sadly he doesn't look after it. He hasn't washed it since last November.

When you decatted the car did you get the engine light to go out. Does it go better with it removed.

Wow there can't be many with that mileage now.

My mates is nippy but he always kicks its head in lol. The only problem he had with is was the lambda sensor fault.

The Escort XR3i for instance, not as popular as the turbo meant they fell I to banger territory very quickly so number dropped. Look at the price of good ones now. Even less Mk5 16v XR3is about.

one thing I have always hated is the centre caps on the st170 OE alloys either the outer covers decay or they come loose and rattle, so sod it I binned them and had these made up for mine which I personally think is way better especially as wheels have just been refurbed

Done the same with mine, every time I washed the car the old ones would spin round like merry go rounds.
Must say your smaller ones seem a better fit than mine, where did you find them ?

Just treated it to a new windscreen as the one installed was from the factory and was showing signs of age with pitting and scratches so got a mate to throw in a new pilkington one and then fitted the new passionford gold member tax disc

managed to get the old one out without breaking it too so on ebay it goes as it will do someone a treat

will take some fresh pics later today at the Uxbridge Autoshow when its on our stand for those of you into 170s
