Default Rwd Puma Cosworth Track/road/show car - Finished project pics added

Well some of you will remember this car up for sale a year or so ago as an unfinished project which the guy I work with was selling, well in the end I bought it off him with a view to finishing it, showing it this year and selling it on as I'm 6'4 and its a bit small for me. So as its nearly finished I thought I'd dig out everything I've got regarding the build which has spanned about 10 years and share through till it being finished.

Some of these photo's are really old so sorry about the scan quality.

Car originally started life as a 1.4 puma, was only 2 years old with 23k on the clock and had had a front end smash, this has been a bonus as its been dry stored for the last 10 years so the shells immaculate. These pics show mainly the initial work getting the kit fitted, cage in, and engine and drivetrain sorted out.

Will add more up to date pics shortly, but the car has changed alot since anyone last saw it.

Haven't got many more on this computer, just a few of the underside when I bought it.

Right just got back off holiday and forgot i left the thread without proper pics, so this was the car as I got it, completely yellow, not what I had in mind for it, with horrible alloys and no dash, plus running lumpy as hell.

thats to come Glenn, cheers.

First i needed to put my stamp on it and get it brightened up abit, so it needed respraying, got a design sorted out and set about it, its three different colours, the yellow is rover trophy yello, the light blue is BMW Santorini blue from the I8 and M3/M4 2014 and the dark blue metallic was a bit harder to figure its 2014 Mustang Kona Blue and looks amazing in the sun, contrasts well against the flat Santorini blue, over all very happy with how it turned out.

That rear shot looks very mean and cool. I would like it all in that light blue to show the bulgy shape more.

Yep the wheels are horrendous, all the guy I bought it off could get with the right offset just to get it rolling.....

But had these ordered to size with the rears having a ET11 offset, still needs spacing though lol, back end is stupidly wide

As well as custom suspension made by GAZ all round, which I have to say was a fantastic service, to literally whatever I wanted, and the price was more than reasonable I thought.

Fronts are based on 2wd cosworth, just 45mm shorter, but threaded all the way, car will bottom out before you run out of adjustment, rear end was completely made to spec for the puma with the help of the guys at GAZ.

And last update for today, these will be going on, Front 4-pot Brembo calipers off of an EVO-8, mated to a focus rs 13" discs, I've made a custom billet adapter plate at my friends machine shop to fit it, used to have this setup on my mk6 rs2000 and worked well.

Thanks, the paint job as I said will make a lot more sense when you see it finished.

Anyway, the wiring loom needed doing so I decided that I wanted a modular dash, no shitty little fuseboxes stuffed here and there, saw something similair on a pikes peak rs200.

Basically built from scratch, you can remove the whole dashboard with the wiring loom in situ, there are plugs both ends to detach it. Glass fuses in an aluminium face, every joint soldered, including kill switch and battery gauge. took me about 30 hrs and was a mission and half. not the best pics but you get the idea.

Thanks lads, nice to get some input as the threads been a bit quiet which is a shame, but anyway here's a pic of the dashboard fitted, got a full set of Smiths gauges and sensors to run them as well as a wideband AFR by innovate. changed the turbo back to a T3 as the T34 needs the seals doing, also fitted a new 2 bar Map sensor, group A coil and new leads as well as a new air temp and coolant temp sensor. Fitted the brakes with new pads and discs, more updates soon.

Cheers, I was going to get a company in to do the sticker work, but after pricing it up I thought sod it I'll do it myself, so bought about Ł70 worth of vinyl off ebay and set about it with a scalpel lol, results we're actually pretty bloody good, here's a look at what's coming.

Thanks a lot lads, as said I'm really happy with it, but yeah it will be going some time over the summer to fund the escorts wrc project, like I said it's too small but I have grown pretty attached to it, will be a shame to see it go
