Default 3dr From Base model to Cossie Replica - NOW SOLD FOR NEW PROJECT

Well its been a few years since ive had a working sierra on the road and having sold my old 3dr replica i have hankered after another. Still got the saph tucked away in the garage with bits of a cossie engine still attached but that needs a rebuild so it can stay where it is for a few more years lol.

Well I did buy a complete 3dr replica for a good few grand which turned out to be a an XR4i shell using a 3dr base model id Luckily the seller agreed to take the car back and offer me a refund so not too bad although i still lost out on the cost of recovery but that is a small cost to lose in comparison. Have to say though, the refund really only happened as a result of Jim Robson and Wesley Hayes stepping in and checking the car over and contacting the seller even before i had spoken to them or viewed the car properly in the daylight. Well done lads I appreciate your help

After this I was truly gutted and had decided to just 24v the saph instead, however Pete (scoobyPete) then sent me a link to the following car he had spotted and I contacted the seller that day. After work, I picked Jim and Wes up and off we set to view the car as didnt want to peice of crap again.

Have to say, the seller was a right arrogant c*nt but then he does deal with VWs so i suppose you have to be

A deal was struck and the car was to be trailored over to Jim's workshop the next day.

Jim & Wes kindly washed the car but it just through a hose as their pressure had broke so pretty sure all the green shit would wash off otherwise...

Its a very sold shell. Floors are solid and it still has uncrushed jacking points. Its been stood on that trailer for years so that has helped.

Does need a front wing as you can see, a couple of rear arches and very very small amount of welding underneath.

Already bought a full genuine kit off jim - i Just need a rear bumper.

And won a pair of genuine ford new wings off ebay for a pricey 400 quid and gotta drive to Halifax to get them

Still deciding on engine, either 24v or cossie yb but it all depends upon cost.

Also, still deciding on colour, either Moonstone blue or Frozen white.

Jay i aint got any more money mate this is a bloody expensive hobby

Agree YB power is the way forward but it aint cheap - but that is what im aiming for. Just gotta keep my head down, save and work harder for it.

My main aim for this year is to buy a property not fuck about with 30 year old fords - i just get bored very easily.

After seeing the job you did on your Saff and your mates MK2, I'm sure it'll look stunning when it's done!!

You've narrowed it down to the two best colours for a 3Door Ran!

agree that cars are a money pit but there are worse things to waste it on, at least you will have something to show at the end of it and looks like you have a good base to work with

Cool mate - I just had a thought, im pretty sure the front bumper i got off Andy did need some adjustment to make it fit properly so im pretty sure the rear will too. Having said that I dont recall putting much effort in when testing it against the car

Nice find by the way, i'm sure Jim will sort you out.

Has he given you any stick yet for wanting to do a 3dr rep?

He didn't seem keen on me even putting the base model spoiler on mine

Cheers Mo - picked the wings up last night - was a bloody long drive and did a tank of diesel in the Golf. They are better than i thought they would be.

Even popped in to see Pete on my way up - Frozen White does look good on a 3dr and it certainly goes well with the 24v

Not got any stick off Jim yet for doing a cossie rep - people can give me stick all they want, i dont listen to them lol

Gaz im toying with the idea of yb but its so damn expensive but that is my preferable choice. Yes still got the yb in the saph but needs a rebuild. That can stay where it is otherwise i may just 24v that instead and yb the 3dr with a cage and buckets.

Just ordered new inner and outter rear arches and front windscreen rubber from ze germans

Thanks for the links mate. I got a full genuine 3dr kit so will be using that and adding the lip spoiler onto the rear.

Ideally want to get a RS500 front bumper so will be using Xsport Racing as it has the best fitment.

I am watching some of those items posted.

Here are the parts i have received today...

New front windscreen rubber

Good stuff

Looking forward to this thread.

I'm also looking for a 500 front bumper, have you used the Xsport one before as I'm thinking of buying one?

Cheers
