Default Electric quad conversion

I've just converted my lads 49cc petrol quad to electric after my wife moaning about the noise and with him being five unable to pull start it,
Last night I picked up a mobility scooter and set about stripping it apart, I only paid £75 as it could do with new battery's, I removed the drive train off the scooter to measure up position and set about removing the engine out of the quad, I decided to remove the rear axle and brakes etc and use the ones off the scooter but I wanted to keep the rear suspension,
In the end I welded a frame up to the swinging arm of the quad and fitted the motor and back axle to that, I wanted it this way because it has a diff and a reverse gear

I have fitted a cable to the original lever for the throttle and it's now operated by the rhs brake lever

It goes well, he took it out on our road this afternoon, does around 6mph, I need to strip it down again and get it painted up for him,
Got a but and want to build a go kart out of one next but will go for a more powerfull one I think
My lad loves it

Good job mate, I put a Honda 4stroke gx160 rpm select race engine on the back of one of those quads, needed wheelie bars to keep it down, and was totally unsafe over 20 mph... Lol

It's worked really well, although the top speed isn't amazing the torque is brilliant, the petrol engine wouldn't get me round the garden because it had a few bumps etc but this motor has no issues and powers around no problem, the boy can go out put the key in and off he goes , with the petrol engin he had to mother to get it started, he is made up
