Default Octavia VRS all grown up project

as alot of you know i sold my r5gtt last summer and since then had a 206 gti for me and the wife.
well we fount out 2 weeks ago that we are having our first child later this year so the 206 just wouldnt of been practical, it was decided we needed something 5 door with a big boot and on my part something i can keep my hand in with modding

decision was made on a 2001 octavia vrs in black here is the write up of the for sale ad and also a few pics

DESCRIPTION
Here we have my precious VRS Octavia for sale. I have owned this car since 2004 and it has never wanted for anything. It comes with a fully stamped service book, mainly serviced at Farmers Skoda in Leicester and latterly at a VW/Skoda specialist. I have all receipts and previous MOT's including the original hand book etc.8 Months MOT, The car is immaculate for its age and has a super clean and unworn interior (never smoked in). The mileage has been mainly motorway due to my daily commute to work and has never let me down. The engine pulls like new and is completely original.
3 Owners including myself, Full service history, Electric windows (front and back), Air conditioning (super cold), 6 stack CD player,1/2 Leather trim, Height adjustable driver's seat, Height adjustable passenger seat, Folding rear seats, VRS embossed Sports seats, Metallic black paint, Alloy wheels, Spare wheel (un-used), Power steering, Steering wheel reach adjustment, Traction control, Central locking, Alarm, Immobiliser, Driver's airbags, Passenger airbags. please call me for further details, no time wasters or trade.

all this motor for 1,195 pound which i still cant believe its an absolute bargain

now the plans are to sensibly modify the car to keep it practical for the wife and baby so no noisy exhaust systems etc but this still shouldnt stop me improving on what i feel is a great all round engine (my bro has owned 2 20v turbo cars) so i do know quite a bit on the tuning side of these things but by no means am i an expert.

i have already purchased a cai kit from fellow briskoda member octycal and as long as it arrives this week i will get it fitted this sunday before i give the car a good detail (oh yes thats another hobby of mine).
also i have negotiated a deal for a forge intercooler which fits exactly the same as oe but has larger core etc etc.
i am then looking to fit an uprated turbo intake pipe and other related hoses and possibly a decat downpipe onto the existing oe exhaust system, once done a stage 1 remap at either psi tuning or more bhp will be carried out to keep me happy for now, but seriously watch this space in the coming months as im sure ill have some interesting updates for you all

Looks a nice one that. They must be getting thin on the ground now.
I had a 2004 octavia in black it was a great car.
I fitted a blue flame exhaust to mine it wasn't loud at all think it was a two muffler deal.
Made a bit of a difference to how it drove.

Stevo i also had a blueflame many years ago on my old mg was one of the best made and sounding sytems iv ever had. But im sure they dont make systems for the vrs anymore and in fact concentrate more on bike exhausts nowadays

one thing i would recommend you do is drop the sump, clean out the sump pan & fit a new strainer. Common problem on them blocking up the strainer/pcik up pipe

the sum is dead easy to remove, iirc you only have to undo the sensor plug on the sump, undo the 10mm bolts and it drops down. few hours tops

Fantastic cars, nearly bought one before the T5. Impressive brakes as standard too. As above though drop the sump and clean it out, they sludge up.

Remap, exhaust and filter wakes them up and makes a great daily.

Looking good mate and congratulations to you both, do you know what sex it is yet or is she not that far yet?
I thought you were getting the hatchback but that is best of both worlds. Look forward to seeing the mods.

Iv not heard many people say a bad word about them tbh and i will defo get the sump off and cleaned etc.

I should imagine it will be remapped next Month after a good health check and service if needed.
Iv.already been in contact with wilky about one of his big hybrids for the 20v turbo. Dont want the hassle of k04 converting it.

well we collected the car yesterday morning, you would never believe it has covered 144k it is as tight as new no rattles squeeks or bangs engine pulls really well ticks over lovely quite as a mouse.
it is due a big service including cambelt kit change so i ordered and picked up the following yesterday

cam belt kit, water pump, thermostat, oil and filter, fuel filter, spark plugs and brake fluid. also going to remove the throttle bodie and give that a clean.

the paintwork is looking like it has done 144k though alot of swirls and quite a few scratches but they dont seem deep so fingers crossed i can spend a good few hours on it and get it looking a bit more like it.

Just don't un plug the throttle body when your cleaning it and you won't need to get it re calibrated.

Awesome cars for the price nowadays.

Sold my 05 a couple of years ago, one of the best car's i had. Stage 1 map, decat and a few other mods. Never put a foot wrong.

Has it had the coil pack recall done?

well the wife finished work yesterday so it gave me chance to do a few jobs on the car this consisted of the following

cleaned the throttle body
fitted k&n panel filter
fitted new numberplates

had a little drive to the shops after and must say i do like the little extra noise when letting off the loud pedal

cant agree more fella, im really looking forward to adding a few mods to help it breathe a bit easier and get rid of the gasses quicker and of course having it mapped.

im not sure but going off the previous owners id say it has i will have a look through the mound of paperwork tonight

a more relevant update is that the car has had a full service with belts etc changed today by my good mate mark at gt motorsport in stoke, he also says its the diverter causing the hesitant boost issue every now and then, so iv purchased a 007p one via a fella over on facebook for Ł60.

I had one of these shortly last year after always wanting one and we loved it.

Looked completely standard apart from a subtle miltek tailpipe at the back but under the bonnet it was stage 2.

It had forge fmic, forge enlarged turbo intake pipe, carbonio carbon intake pipe with k&n cone filter, 3" down pipe to decat and miltek resonated cat back system and a forge dump valve and then a revo stage 2 map. It was a awesome car but sadly too thirsty so the wife had my fabia vRS I had and I got a van for work.
If you want a quiet exhaust a resonated miltek is a good shout. I was very impressed with it it had a nice tone but wasn't loud at all. I'd love another one will watch this thread with envy

I never had it rolling roaded but going off other people's cars with the same spec between 225-250bhp a lot of that could depend on the rollers used though to be fair. It was definitely a good improvement over standard and I still got 30mpg on a run, just a shame it was so thirsty round town

Yeah his place is down a farm track type thing I picked some wheels up from his place once. Heard very good things about him and if mine hadn't already been mapped I'd of gone to him for mapping as a lot of the guys on briskoda rave about him.
