Default WRC1 Escort Cosworth some new bits

The recent acquisition.

In need of quite abit work. The engine is fantastic along with the power delivery. The gearbox is a little clunky for my liking and escort cosworths should be 4wd in my eyes.

Initial plans are to convert it back to 4wd and give the car an overall tidy up. It will only get a freshen up to make it look more presentable it will continue to be used in the meantime. It does not require a huge amount of work, as track car it looks acceptable but its not really up to my aesthetic standards.

The interior will be getting a proper sort out though. It looks like someone has hand painted the roll cage black. Its a huge shame why anyone would think this was acceptable.

Some pics just before it went up to see Harvey and Jim Gibbs:

I thought I would update, been abit of a nightmare really. Constantly waiting for bits! The cars been up at Jimbos now for well over 8 weeks, hasnt been touched and pretty much just in there way. I'm still waiting on the right gearbox parts to turn up. I even dropped the car off 2 weeks later initially as to when the gearbox should of arrived only for it to be a month later and only a gearkit! Anyways looks like we are finally getting there now and final missing bit sent to bara to be finished and built up.

Jimbo may be along shortly with further pics but big thanks to Jimbo and Harvey at SCS they really sorted the car out.

They dropped engine and box, had bara build up the gearkit and complete convert the car back to 4wd. It ended up a big job and an endless list of parts required:
4wd donor box,
front and rear props,
quiafe thickwalled 6inch front diff,
big wing sump conversion,
4wd crossmember
4wd steering rack
4wd bells and brackets custom set made from Martin
4wd hubs a member let me down on those saying had new bearings in them. Turned out needing new bearings, studs and powdercoating
Custom extended driveshafts
rear prop shortening for the sequential box
4wd adjustable tca's
Harvey needed to remake a front downpipe of the exhaust to clear the box
Also a custom bracket from the centre push clutch

that's all I can remember now! It needs to go back to the boys for a proper set up and some proper anti lag and possibly flat shift but not too sure how road friendly that will be.

It was a drama free drive home. It was a hot one though I need to get some ventilation in there.

Brought the car home to give it a proper clean. It came out quite well in the end I thought the car needed abit of a blow over exterior wise but a good friend brought a lot of dull bits up!

Spaced for the fronts ever so slightly.

Pulled the car out after Spa to give it a quick clean. Also painted the grill and intercooler as they were covered in stone chips. Also tried on one of the sets of wheels to see what they would look like.
