Yeah, it's coming on alright. I've been working away lots recently so haven't had much time, but I've got the whole underside in Gravitex waiting for colour at the moment so loads of parts that need painting before I bolt them on. I'm due a week off work so might get some work done to it.

Prepping the car for paint most of next week as I'm off for my birthday so will get more updates then. Engine build won't start until the shell is back.

Going to need a few bits like a heater blower and switch unit for the blower etc, bidding on a different dash that I've found. Want to get that trimmed up next week then crack on with having it flocked by a local company so that should look good. Bit nervous now, hate building things that i've not stripped. Wont be that much being bolted back on like a fully trimmed road car so fingers crossed it won't be that bad to do!!

More pictures to come next week for sure

So its been a busy few weeks doing the car, fabricating the last few things and sorting any issues the bnodyshell had, there were a few rotted in the strangest of areas and luckily only slightly. This mk4 shell must be one of the best left. underside is all as new, sills, chassis rails, floor its all mint and just how it came from ford the only welding its had is that we've done!! nearly 30 years isn't bad really.

Its worked bang on now its painted, the solid grey works so well with the rosso red I'm in love, let the build begin

Looks mega, Chris! That grey looks the same colour as I have in the workshop for mine. Except I'm doing the whole interior in it, not just the cage.

Mental note.............never, ever, ever, frickin ever buy a car that two other people have stripped, owned and bastardised!! To say i want to chin them both is an understatement.

Who saves boxes full of crap you just wont ever use

Got one of most things i need two of lol

So annoying, its so easy re building stuff you strip yourself i do it day to day at work and its a doddle!! This feels wrong lol. After checking all my stuff got my work cut out!

Anyway on the plus side the very helpful man at Matlock Ford has helped me locate all the stuff for fitting the new front headlights i have, new adjusters top and bottom, new indicators and side repeaters plus all the fittings for them. Be here for thursday so maybe get the lights re fitted this weekend. Rest of the panels are being prepped for paint this weekend just got to find a decent bonnet. Want a carbon one but until i can convince them to make me full carbon vents then im not really that fussed. Be good to have a body coloured one anyway not sure if i want a naked carbon one either. Its not essential for getting it running.

Hopefully booked back in at NMS for the engine fitting and mapping late May early June really want this on the road for end of June

Going to order all new seals and stuff for the windows from Kent Trims the full hit is 250 quid so well worth it for the over all effect. Just won some brand new manual mirrors too so they can go for paint when i pick the doors up.

Just left with the decision of plastic windows or green tint glass, sold my s1 glass today as i wont be able to get to the rears to open them, something i never really considerd

It certainly is, with it being Karls conversion he wants to be the one who posts it up. Akso dont want it to be copied just yet, once people see how its done im sure it will be a common conversion the ratios are so close to the bc box its unreal then we have an extra 6th gear at 8k she will do 185. Inner wing now modded to take a mk1 focus rs gearbox mount the mk2 one was huge and didnt have an even base to make a good bracket for!! Vibratechnics also do A MK1 box mount so i can match my other side now

Just one of them things i forgot about and ran out of time. Until the box is mounted to check for cable length and position it was hard to work out what i was going to do. Ive made a billet alloy footplate for my shifter thats going to use the standard pickup holes. The 4 holes for this to be bolted are all outside where the 4 bolt holes and hole in the floor are so the alloy plate will cover that hole and also give me height adjustability once fitted as i will just make some small alloy bobbins to lift the shifter if im not happy.

Not had much time to update this in the last couple of weeks. Left the shell to settle a little before i started to build it back up. Finally found a good set of glass with no etchings so started to fit that along with some new rubbers. Really make the difference against the fresh glossy paint. Picked most of my other panels up from the bodyshop this week so its time to get the tailgate back on and drop the rear window back in.

Dug one of my sets of manual window winders out the parts pile ready to be built into the doors now ive decided to go down the glass route again, happy that i have too. Can see that slider getting on my tits and like the fact i can wind the window fully down in summer too. Ill re hang the doors, fit all the new seals, handles plus my new locks then take them off again so they dont get in the way.

Fitted all the lights and indicators, fitted my Tilton res so i can start to do the feed pipes for the cylinders and just genrally started to get it looking like a car again

Pics to follow

Looking mega, mate! On the window winders, you might find you can't use them with the doors closed...
