Latest update is that all the welding and repairs are now complete, it's mostly in bare metal now and they will start prepping it for paint inside and out. I need to drop off the side skirts, bumper and new bootlid as well so they can be trial fitted and prepped also.

Not had a chance to look at the front bumper yet, I will likely have to buy a shit cossie bumper and mate it up with the LC item, but that's not a massive concern at the moment.

Hopefully I will get some more photos soon to share on here.

I have "an" engine, still not sure if I will use it or not, but the prices these units are fetching now is pretty silly, so will wait a while and see if I can find something that better fits the history of the car.

I want to Steve, just not sure what it would cost. I guess there's no harm in asking though.

The plan is to clear my feet of the bodywork and assembly costs and see where I stand after that. Planned to allocate about Ł10k on building it roughly, so I'll see where I'm at once the bodywork is done. I'll be lucky to see that completed and painted for under 5-6 as it needed quite a bit of work. I have all the bits to get it running, but there are a lot of silly bits missing off the shell that are worth fuck all that have been robbed, so I need to find them too.

I'm not too sure what my plans are for the car, so I am reluctant to throw a lot of money at it that I won't get back if I sell it on, but that's the rules of the game I suppose...... Also on the lookout for another good spec engine but people are asking silly money for average spec builds, for that kind of outlay I could spec my own engine from good tuner, rather than buy 2nd hand and have to map around an "ok" setup.

Glenn, away at the moment, not back till 20th March so Im only reliant on photos I get sent. As soon as I have more I will post them up.

Smiley, thanks, won't be half as good as yours though!

Yup you're right. I'd pay 5k for a decent spec 2nd hand engine, but not double that, can't justify it. I already have an engine for it so I'm not really overly bothered at the moment, it would just be nice to finish it off.

Steve, thanks for the info on your engine build, very much appreciated, just wish I was further down the road with the car right now so I could have a better idea if the budget will cover it or not.

As for updates, unfortunately I have very little to offer other than a few photos I've been sent. Been away for about 5 weeks but will be flying back on thurs, so will move a bit faster after that (I hope).

I think these were about 3 weeks ago, not sure what stage it's at now.

Arch, doesn't look that bad

Front wing in bare metal

I know what your saying re 2nd hand engines i keep getting tempted with big spec ones that come up now and then but timings all wrong but will just use mine ahmed said to me dont worry about having a mint engine when it comes to high spec build youd be better off with it being bolloxed just about all of it will be replaced and half the block will be dug out for liners its mad when you see near std engines up for 4k i think the green top 4x4 oppligger has on bat at 2.5k would be a good buy.
the car is gonna look fantastic mate credit to you

Completely agree with you on the engine prices!

Thanks for the kind words, I think your project is far better than this saph will ever be again to be fair, but I'll give her a new lease of life and see what happens further down the road. I'm already getting impatient with it, which is the worst thing you can do. Lately I've been looking at selling up everything and getting out of cars all together, I think this will be the final straw, no more after this!

My mate Bob (C20 TBO on here) bought one of those engines for his escos, very good value!

I live near very very there!

I'm balls deep with it now because of the bodywork needed, so figure it's a total waste to stop now

Found a few more photos on my phone I thought I'd share.

When I took it off the trailer before any bodywork

Some Morettes I picked up, unpainted, apparently test fitted to a car and removed again, look like new but 100 quid cheaper.

The engine I have for it (at the moment)

Some other projects they are doing, mk2 escort and escos.

Rog, engine i got from Italy was perfect and 100% virgin (it was originally from Switzerland), my engine builder said it was one of the best he has seen regarding condition and recconed very low miles for a green top , we took head off to find zero corrosion and checked bores and crank with again perfect, very impressed.

Oh and ive become a member of the saff crew after buying a nouveau late K plate saff 4x4, 91k 3 owners and fully ford stamped history, pick up week tomorrow, plan is to get back back to oe in bay (no airbox and blue hoses) and st3 it, if im right it must be one of the last 200 saffs off the line with the colour coded tip on rear spoiler, will run it until the escos is done

Keen to see this saph Bob, sounds like a nice car, I did see you posting looking for standard bits and assumed it was all escort related, obviously it wasn't! Will get that engine tidied up when I'm back and look for another one in the meantime as well, see what comes about, it will be quick enough with the spec it is, always room for improving on later.

First pic I've even seen of that fiesta, what happened to it, any other details of the spec?!?

Paul, thanks I was hoping to have it on the road for summer but seems to be taking longer than planned. Still undecided about the interior, and caging it, I really need to decide that before it goes for paint.

Front strut brace, the same, I think as on Martoons / Mike Rainbirds Escorts? Copy ones are available, but the mounting plates at the strut top are different...

Hard to describe something like that!? Lol

I've got a Philloy one, that have a similar looking bar, but the mounts don't go half way round the stut top, like the Tarcal one...

Looking to be a very good project there, sometimes when you see all the filler it just makes you sad, that some problem weights their gold in filler more than metal.

I am a sheet metal worker, and the less filler, the better. But hiding rust with filler.. Yark..

Here are some more updates from photos I took this morning. Took the front bumper down to get it fitted up, as well as the rear bumper and a replacement bootlid that I got a while ago, plan for this week are to get most of the wiring stripped out of the engine bay so that it's easier to paint.

Maybe Rondells, but only because people keep moaning at me to put them on and my mate has a set sitting. Personally I was planning on putting on TH2's but they don't seem to be available in 18 inch.
