Thanks for the comments, it's getting there slowly. I'm hoping it will be in paint by end of the year having finally decided on a colour at last. The car itself still looks a bit shit, so I'm hoping that changes once it painted and has a decent set of rims on it. Thanks to Gary at rsclassics for prompt shipping of the front bumper, I now have 3 bumpers for it, at the moment it will get the standard cossie item, and I can always change that later if necessary. The idea at the moment is to go for a factory look, granted the wings are a bit hard to hide, but I am hoping with the wheel choice and body colour make it a bit more subtle.

Back to it again, bodywork is now 99% done so just needs primed and painted. Thanks to those on here who still read my occasional posts

Happy new year and thanks for the comments, I know it's not the kind of look that appeals to most but I intend to make it look a bit different from the previous incarnation. Rooos it's a car I always wanted to see up close but never got the chance, so when it got broken it was a good opportunity to try and track it down and try to do something with it.

Finally decided on a colour, originally I was going to go for mercury grey or something dark but now I've decided on the total opposite with a bit of a eye catching graphics and wrap combined. It's been a bit of a messed up few months over most of 2016 and with the car already progressing slowly up to the start of last year I decided to put it on hold and sell up if the right offer came along, it was briefly advertised but wasn't really too happy about selling up unfinished so I'm glad it seems to have worked out. I will probably part ways with it once done but it was more the fact I wanted the challenge of building a car as opposed to worrying too much what it would turn out like. It's so much expense and hassle of doing it but it's also so easy to go and buy stuff which is no real challenge.

Have a few old mag features, can't remember the exact dimensions off the top of my head, was running 18" Escort fitment Rondells and mega wide rear tyres from memory. Was just speaking about wheel sizes this morning, plan is to get it painted up then trial fit various offsets and widths of 18" rims and it will be a case of fitting the widest I can throw on basically. Need to find a complete donor Sierra at some point, needs lots of silly bits of trim, wiring and so on.

Got sent that link a couple of days ago, I messaged the seller but let's just say he didn't quite seem like a talkative chap.

Glenn, will just be a shite base model saph saloon, but if the bumper is of any use then you can have it FOC.

I saw that advert as well and made me think of your car straight away rog.

When you said there would be an update soon didn't think it would be this soon.
Looking forward to seeing this progress and will keep my eyes open for a donor car for you as see a lot of random stuff on my travels

Cheers John that would be very helpful mate, seen a lot of stuff online but a little bit reluctant to pay almost 500 quid for what would essentially be a scrap condition car transported up here, so if I can find one local(ish) to steal all the common bits from that would be ideal. Hoping things move a lot faster this time around, also glad I put it on the back burner because I'm really happy with the intended colour scheme and it would've been too late to turn back if it'd been painted a lot earlier.

Soo glad as there is an update on this, thank you Rog .
That moonstone sapph popped up on fb a couple of days ago asking for a rear bumper. There was only one picture posted of the rear end and I thought as it was DS .
I thought shit Ive missed the end of the build and commented on the post asking the question , obviously I was wrong and meant to have a look for this thread .
I had totally forgotten as I had subscribed
I used to love seeing this car around my way before it even had tiger stripes never mind the wide body . Cant wait to see it finished

Picked up this absolute gem today to supply lots of oddball common parts, when I initially got the shell it was rolling (barely) but had been stripped of anything worth more than Ł1, after spending a few hundred quid buying stupid stuff like pedal boxes, handbrake mechanisms and windscreen washer bottles I quickly concluded that it would be far less hassle to get a crap saph and rob it for most of the parts I still needed like parts of the wiring harness, seatbelts, dash, switches, steering column, lock set and on and on.... Only issue is that I'm afraid the bumper will be no use to you Glenn.

Rax, thanks for the kind words progress has been a bit slower that I'd have liked ideally but I've had to deal with some unrelated personal life issues which have held me up a bit amongst other things. Intending on visiting the bodyshop tomorrow to see what stage it's at, so if substantially different from the last pics I'll get an update for you.

Thanks, same here! It's taken a while but tbh I'm going to be patient with it once it's painted and try to enjoy building it up, when it seems like a chore I'll just take a break from it, that's the plan anyway.

Glenn, not sure I think so but didn't pay too much attention to it, they'll do for now if I don't come across a decent set by the time I build it. Will definitely be cloth seats when the time comes.

As I said earlier I planned to pop in past today to get an update, I'm going away to Greece tomorrow for a couple of weeks so was a good excuse to see it before I go. Front and rear screens are out now so it's pretty much ready for a proper coat of primer then a bit of prep and paint. The whole she'll is being painted, even the underside of the roof so there should be no trace of blue left.

Floor looks very good Rog, seen Gordon's post on FB regarding the estate, there will be more than you think coming off that estate that's for sure

My Escort apparently was bought with only engine and box removed, it certainly wasn't that way........likes of front ABS sensors were gone etc etc small stuff can certainly add up.

Thanks again for the comments, hopefully I won't drop the ball with it and you'll like it when she's finished. Once the paint is on I'll have a long time between building it up to a proper rolling car then it'll be going to be a vehicle wrapping/sign writing company to be finished off.

John, any old ford whatever condition is always worth a look IMO just for curiosity if nothing else Glenn, probably would further down the line mate but I'm keeping everything at the moment so I don't have to go any buy anything else to replace it. Once the car is a bit more complete I'll have a better idea of what I need and whatbincan get shot of, I've already had a couple of people wanting what's left over even though it's rough as hell.

Bob, floor and shell was in fantastic condition, the only reason it looked so bad was that all the paint had blistered so only option was to strip it all back and start again, rust wise it was really really solid.
