New project
Hi all, thought I'd share a few pics of my new project car.
A few of you will remember that I have been building my white saph for a fair while now. Due to a few problems this year, I haven't done anything to it for a while as I just had no enthusiasm whatsoever.
A couple of months ago another saph shell painted in my favourite colour came up for sale so after having a bloody good think, I decided to take the plunge and start afresh. New car, new start.
My white one ideally needed painting again for me to be happy with it and the underneath needed doing again after the last guy cocked it up so thought I may as well buy the blue one.
How my white saph was before:
How it looks now:
Feel pretty gutted but I just wanted a fresh start so needs must
It was a bit of a mission to collect it as it was a 1000 mile round trip! Took me and my mate Rich just over 24 hours with transit and trailer!
Some pics of the blue one:
On the trailer:
Back home:
Started building it up a couple of weeks later. I decided to use all of the parts from my white on the blue one but seeing as the white one is a 4x4 shell, there are quite few differences like no mounts for the ECU holders, no mounts for the little control box thingy on the nearside of the bulkhead, holes in the A pillars for the wiring grommets/trunking smaller etc..... I had to modify a few bits to get around it but nothing major.
Loom in:
I retaped the whole interior loom in the proper cloth tape as although the loom is pretty much mint, the loom tape was falling to bits so that smartened it up no end
Put all the window regulators, windows, window trims, door latches, door wiring etc in the other day:
Did some more work on it today. Finished tidying up the loom, fitted the spoiler (to get it out my way more than anything as it was doing my nut in keeping moving it! ), fitted the rear lights, roof rail trims and with the help of my mate Ade swapped the sunroofs over from the white one to the blue one as its electric.
It's going in to have the underside stone chipped and painted mid December so I'm just trying to get as much built up as I can that doesn't go anywhere near the floor of the car (just in case ). I can then start to get all the juicy bits from the white one (6 degree beam, supra diff, coil overs etc) on to the blue one
I'll hopefully have it all built up and ready to go for next year
Thanks for looking and I'll keep the updates coming in
Gaz.

You know you love it really!
At least it looks like its getting somewhere now!
Cheers for your help the other day mate
Cheers mate! I bet it's wondering what's happening to it now after sitting doing nothing for all that time!!!
Cheers mate!
I wasn't sure about the Amber's but they're starting to grow on me now, much like a wart!

Thanks mate
Cheers mate!
Still not sure whether go Amber's or smoked really though!
Have you still got your Escort? My favourite Escos!
Cheers Steve!
Got some enthusiasm back now after having a few months away from cossie's
It is a clean one! It'll be even cleaner once it comes back from having the underside done!
Alright Neil!
All the problems started once it went Frozen White!!!
Cheers Glenn!
Im sure I made the right decision mate. Hopefully!
Nice one, cheers mate!

Only problem with fitting Amber's is the back panel has been drilled for the black plastic panel
My mate suggested getting the black plastic bit painted crystal blue to match but don't know how that would look!
Cheers mate, it's a very clean shell that just needs tidying!
Not too sure what wheels to put on it really. I've already got my 5 spoke comp MO's from my white one that I was going to do in silver but I'm quite fancying some 18" 6 spoke MO's, new or old type, not fussed!
It'll be finished Steve!
Hopefully!!!
Cheers Steve, glad to see you're making progress on the 4i!
Thanks mate!
Cheers mate!
I'm waiting for the V5 to arrive at the mo so hopefully should be here soon
Thanks mate!

Thought I'd update this a little bit.
Haven't done a lot on it myself lately what with work and a few personal issues but I've got it up to Gaz now so he can work his magic on it getting the underside sorted out.
Loaded up ready to go to Gaz's:
What a pain in the arse that journey was!!! Motorway got shut for ages twice on the way up and once on the way home! Took me a total of just over 19 hours in total!!
Anyway Gaz emailed me some progress photos and it looks to be coming along nicely and he's doing a really nice job
Some pics:
This area for some reason was crushed down but Gaz has done a brilliant job of repairing it!
You can just about see what it was like in this pic:
There had somehow been a couple of slits made on the o/s/r floor and poorly repaired so Gaz has also repaired properly that too
Before:
After:
Gaz also removed all the old sound deadening to make sure all was well underneath it all which it was thankfully and he put some new stuff down too
Gaz then painted the floor in body colour too which is not something I was expecting so was a nice surprise!
Very happy with the work done by Gaz so far
Hopefully I'll get it back soon and start getting all built up, need to get it finished ASAP as I've got a couple of things coming up in the near future so the pressure is on a bit!
My engine should be done by Tony very soon too so it should all start to come together pretty soon
I'll keep it updated as it goes.

Nice one cheers mate!
Cheers mate, will do!
Yeah he's sound as mate, so glad I've found a body man that actually cares about what he's working on, well happy so far
Thanks mate!
It's been built from a new shell mate, it's never been on the road
That's the colour the shell came in.
